Would You Buy Another Harley (other than a V-Rod)?

I've ridden all the other model Harley's and would not buy any of them. Am I alone here? Compared to the competition they seemed to me to be a big disappointment. Braking, performance, lean angle, fit/finish, etc., all seemed a bit below average compared to what's out there. I think Harley has turned into more of a marketing machine than a well engineered product. OK, they do look good.

I'm done now.

I was really Torn last month when I went and put a down payment on my Triumph Scrambler, I stopped by an HD dealership to look at the 48 1 last time before I did, I love that 48, but after talking to the saleperson and telling him I had just put a down payment on a Triumph and was waiting for the bank to open on Tuesday to get the cash for the rest of the price he said "I will knock off $200 since you are paying cash" hence making the bike $3600 more then the Triumph. Needless to say I am now the proud owner of a Triumph Scrambler and not a HD 48, a Bike I loved since the day it came out and still do. HD needs to rethink their "Entry Level" bikes and their prices. You can buy Ducatis' Triumphs etc... for much less. If he had gone down $1000 instead of $200 I would have a 48 in my garage today.
As for their bigger bikes? No, I like none of them and the few I see that I do are Way over priced.

HD finds itself is a very odd predicament, Its created this whole fake "Lifestyle" nonsense that has raked in the profits for many years etc... but there is a large population of people out there that steer away from HD because of the "Pirates" and being associated with them.

I'd buy an XR1200X for the right price.

A Great example of an Over priced bike that could have sold better if they even attempted to try and understand the people they where making it for.. Which is too bad as it sold really well in Europe when it was released.

Yeah.. I will even though i hate pirates and keep my distance from them. Harley has a great resale value and i love how raw they feel.

No! only! When & if HD puts the V-Rod technology and engineering into other models then maybe... But the down side is still pricing...
I consider the V-Rod the cream of the HD crop but not when considering all brands.
So why a V-Rod?? I got a good lookin' bike (VRSCF) that is liquid cooled, has ABS, and cool features that include but not limited to: fat rear tire, dual exhaust, LED tail lights/signals.

Back when I first bought my Corvette, the car I've always wanted, I still compared it to the 300ZX, Supra, and RX-7 (this was back in 1992!) I knew the pros & cons of all of those models and 20+ years later I am still happy with the Vette!

It's your choice! I can tell you why I picked mine and how it is "better or worse" than what I didn't pick. But when you tell me you got what you wanted, that's a point none of us can argue!

The XR1200 didn't sell well, so they slapped some piggy back shocks on and raised the price. Outstanding move.

I really thought that this platform was going to take them in a great direction, They released in only in Europe 1st (and the Pirates Grumbled about that, then didn't buy it once it showed up here anyways because it has a Sportster tag on it and Pirates see Sporties as Fag and Gir bikes) so Great Euro co made parts for it, Termignoni, Remus to say a few. Then they brought it here and the Big update from 1st models to later? Painted the motor Black.

Love the 48, too, but the price makes me gag.
Also wouldn't mind having my Road King back - but not at the cost of giving up my V-Rod.
I'm considering getting a bagger style -maybe the BMW 1300 - and dumping one or two of my sport machines. I can't justify the cost of the big H-Ds.
