Anyone ever do a guided motorcycle tour?

I came across guided motorcycle tours on the HD site, this sounds like a great vacation, the one I'm interested in is the National Parks in the Southwest. Fly to Las Vegas, spend the night, pick up rented Harley and off you go, This one is a 5 day tour. Price includes bike, insurance, hotels, park fees etc. has anyone ever done something like this? Would love to hear some feeback before booking.

I hate any guided, or scheduled, vacations. "Normal life" has too many schedules already!

There is an option to do a Self Guided tour, they even have a van that takes your luggage from hotel to hotel.

I can't imagine flying anywhere to ride unless it was on another continent . Half the fun for me is getting there on a bike. It's all about the journey for me since I have more time than money. Of course, if I lived in a snowy climate I would think differently about half the year How much does one of these tours cost?

I know a lot of people that fly to Vegas (because most cities offer cheap flights to shite city) and rent bikes and ride through the desert to the ocean and ride up the coast and back through Wine country etc... to Vegas. Great trip, be careful of the time of year of course, too cold and snow on the mountain tops and too hot in the summer.

Perfect amount of time to figure out your own route. I see group rides like a boat tour, unless you bring your own people you get stuck with a bunch of dummies you are already sick of before you leave but worse in that with a boat you have 1 guy driving the boat, what If you get in a groups of slow driving morons who have to stop every 30 miles to empty their pee bags and feed their fat diabetic heads? Thats a lot of $$ to get stuck on the side of the road.

Sounds like a plan Big Tony! You guys have talked me into planning my own trip, at my own stops, at my own leisure. One more stupid question, I'm going to be looking at renting something like an Electra Glide Ultra Classic. It will be me and my brother on the one bike (he doesn't ride), do you think if we pack ultra light this will hold all of our luggage? AND I've never ridden this type of bike (I have a new DX), see any issues? Sorry for all the questions, but you this forum is the best source for any information.

How about renting a bike locally for the weekend. Get used to the feel, then toss your brother on for a few miles. Then load up the bags with some weight. The bike will have a heavy feel to it, compared to the DX. Maybe do this more than once so you can enjoy your vacation. You'll know how the bike will react. Weekend rentals aren't that much. Might be worth the $$.

You don't need much stuff for a road trip like that especially if you're staying in motels. An Ultra Classic should have more than enough room to carry stuff for two. I went 17 days on the road on a vrod with camping gear. Good idea to rent one local first to get the feel before you go two up.

Good advice, not sure of any rental places in my area, but next time I take my bike in for service going to ask to at least test drive an Electra Glide Ultra Classic.
