Fender eliminator for 2012!

I have come up with a fender eliminator for my 2012, gets rid of the hideous bulky stock rear plastic and signals. I will get pictures up this weekend, working 75 hours a week limits my wrench time. Just wanted to get the thread going as I will try to start selling them

Will you consult a patent lawyer?

Are we dead in the water here? Promising pics on the internet and then failing to deliver is a punishable offense!

Uhh... sure. I have my doubts that some guy throwing fender eliminator kits together in his garage is going to go through the hassle of getting a patent on something that has been around for years on other bikes. Unless there's something truly "novel" about the way that it eliminates safety equipment, the USPTO would laugh at him. Even if he DOES manage to get a patent on his, he has a year after he first publishes pics of it and sells it to file for the patent.

Just because it looks cool, doesn't mean you can get a patent on it. Unless you're Apple, and your patent is for a rectangle with rounded edges. Then you're all set.

Regardless...

I've always wanted to do that...

Fender eliminator 2012 DX

I simply removed the plate and used a mini hack saw to trim off the entire back piece flush with the end of the fender (be careful not to scratch fender) then drilled 2 holes in the piece left just below fender and bolted plate back on. Looks great. Had to angle (bend) plate out slightly so it didnt hit tire with a passenger If you wish to go further with the signals as well, they can be remounted below passenger seat using 1 hole that is already there with a simple bracket if you remove the reflector, or some mini after market signals. Again if someone will enlighten me as to how to post pics l will...
