So Ive been looking for decent size hardbags for a while now and finally bit the bullet and ordered bags from Viking bags. they were fairly easy to mount although i had to trim the fender a little bit and drill out the mounting holes on the inner fender to allow for 10mm bolts. everything went together pretty smooth.
first pic was just the mock up... more pics to come.
yeah i wasnt a bag guy when i first bought my dx but i ride to and from work so itll be nice to just throw on my helmet and go and the look of bags has grown on me.
no lane splitting for me its illegal in washington
I have the same bags on a muscle, and agree, I can't function without them.
I installed mines to be quick-disconnect, but haven't found a need/desire to ride without them. They really makes the bike functional/practical (for me).
i thought about trying to do a quick disconnect setup but decided on the hard mount incase i actually want to put a little bit of weight in them and i prefer to put the biggest bolts i can reasonably use on most things. plus if i want or need to take them off its just 2 nuts on each side. its definitely a must to have some sort of luggage on a daily rider. no more backpacks for me im gettin too old for that :biker:
Thanks for posting those pics! Those bags look great and seem to work well. They also seem a lot bigger than the very rare harley hard bags or and far more durable than the softbags available from HD.
What model of Viking bag did you purchase? What mounting brackets did you use? Where did you get them from? Naturally, the Viking website states it doesn't have anything for Vrods..
