Using remote starter switch

Where is the best place to use a remote starter switch? I could jumper across the starter solenoid but I prefer NOT to put that much current through the switch. It looks like if you ground the black wire to the solenoid and use the switch between the battery and the green solenoid wire that should do it. AM I correct? Thanks.

Take the small wire off of the solenoid, put one connector from the remote switch on the stud and the other to the 12v battery feed wire. This is the same thing that happens when the start switch is used.

It would suck if it happened, but imagine the looks on people's faces if they were admiring your bike and for grins you start the bike from a distance to wow them only to realize that you left the bike in first. They scurry off in horror (you are just as horrified) as the bike lurches forward and drops on it's side.

A totally hypothetical situation but are there safeguards against this happening?

I just took it for granted that HokieRich meant a remote switch like we use on autos to spin the engine around while working on it.

I've read where some of the them are not recommended for stick shift cars.
A relay can be installed and used in coordination with the neutral light switch on motorcycles.I do this with the pedal cars I motorize.
Older Mopar starting systems used this idea w an automatic trans.
