How to use a built in battery tender

The Street Rod I purchased as the leads for a batter tender built in. The former owner also provided me with a battery tender. Since the bike is going to sit in the garage during the winter, how should I use it?

It seems to just charge the battery so leaving it plugged in would probably be a bad idea. How often do I plug it in or what sort of cycle do I use it on?

Leave it plugged in when you are not riding.

Just plug it in for the winter and or anytime you're not riding. The tender will keep the battery charged. Once the battery reaches it's full charge the tender will just "trickle" charge output to the battery. I've kept my '08 on a battery tender since the day I brought it home, and it's still the original battery. Hell it's plugged up now!!!

Just make certain that it is a "tender" not a charger.

Yeeeah buddy! Used it on my old cbr, Buell and now on my F. Plug it in and leave it alone. It actually prolongs the battery life.
