I got mine for touch over 4 grand, brand spanking new, in 09.

One of the most powerful, best turning bikes I've ever ridden.

When HD dumped them they dropped the prices drastically.

I like this bikes! Looks like the guy sold it. I called him yesterday and it was gone. That said, how do you like? What do you do for parts and service?

Its fast as hell, very easy to pull the front wheel. I have two Buells. I do all the maintenance stuff myself. Anything major I take to my buddy who's been working on Buell motors for HD for over 10 years. But so far, nothing more major than a broken exhaust stud.

Parts for these things can still be had through Erik Buell Racing. I live less than 20 miles from their shop and stop in pretty regularly.

All I miss is the vrod's speed, other than that I'm well satisfied with the FLD.

I like the way she thinks!
I had the same problem... Went with the sundowner and she loves it... 100 times better for her!

There is one of the weird things about a Harley. A Sportster is, by any standard, a long and heavy motorcycle. Yet, because HD styles their bikes to have a lot of exposed steel, or plastic on a V-Rod, rear fender showing behind the passenger "seat", you end up with this big bike and a cramped riding position.
The riding position of the Street Rod, and the distance from the seat to the bars, is pretty compact too. I have to keep reminding myself there is a couple of feet of bike out there behind me. Most bikes are shorter and have the rear wheel almost under the rider instead of well behind. The wheelbase of a V-Rod is greater than that of a GL-1800 Gold Wing, but you wouldn't guess it from the crowded riding position of the V-Rod.

A bike as big and heavy as the FLD and only one front brake rotor and caliper. There is not enough brake for hard use, i.e. fully loaded for touring, on the sorts of roads in the Sierra Nevada near where I live. You'll have those brakes smoking after making the run down Hwy 190 from Great Western Divide Road to Porterville, following the Tule River Gorge. Even the original dual disc set up on my old K100 was insufficient for that road and the result was major brake fade, and the K is 150 lbs lighter than an FLD.
This is a great example of the sort of the sort of very poor engineering choices HD makes that leave me shaking my head wondering what kind of morons design their bikes. Something intended for touring should have dual Brembos squeezing 300 mm rotors at a bare minimum.

That's probably what I should do. I bought the rear pillion from an '07 Night Rod which is better that the standard X rear pillion. That and I made brackets to lower the rear foot pegs about 1.5" so that has sufficed for now. But, that won't appease her much longer!

Nope - I have owned and ridden the other ones - I traded my 09AW in 2010 for an RK 18 months later I traded the 2010 RK for my 09AW
That's how much I like the V Rod.

The 09AW fit me like a glove when I got it in 09 and I like it more than any HD I have owned.

I don't think I'd buy any Harley other than a V-Rod.
