HD's problem was they already had Buell in the stable, and the 1125's were beginning to take off, sales-wise. Then there's the issue of an aircooled sportsbike weighing almost 600lbs.

This bike was doomed before it was even launched.

Wasn't Buell gone by then?

No. By the time the X rolled along, I think so, but not the orange XR1200.

I think Harley has turned into more of a marketing machine than a well engineered product. OK, they do look good.

I'm done now.
I dunno, i think the other models are too heavy, lack performance and are a tad overpriced. Only VRODS for me.

Exactly. If they offer us a modern product with contemporary performance, of course I woud consider it. But not any of the bikes they sell today including any of the V-Rod models being offered.

Every time I had a jones for an XR-1200 I would remember riding a Lightning Long and forget about the XR. The Lightning Long had the same frame as the Ulysses, was really very comfortable and not cramped at all like other Buell sport bikes, weighed about 150 lbs less than the XR, better rubber mounting system (3 linkages vs only 1 on the XR), had equal or better suspension components and the same basic engine.

Looking at buying a road glide either this up coming summer or the next. The V-rods paid for so I don't need to get rid of it.

I know I am off topic . .But since you said BUELL- anyone ride a buell 1125cr. Found locally for 5K, only 8K miles on it! Thoughts

About the only other Hds I like are the Fat Bobs.....chunky front tire, dual front brakes, the cool dual headlights, and kinda the same black/aluminum/chrome look as my '08 D. I do dislike the semi-solid stock wheels though...

I consider myself too tall for Sportster models but I love the look of the 48 parked. Riding it, I look like an ogre trying to balance on a mosquito.

I'd like to have a Fat Boy Low as a second bike. But would NOT pay as much as HD asks for it.

I also like how Rocker C looks.
