Agree 100%... Probably with the money some have put in rebuilds here (2-3 a year? ) they would have done it already

Absolutely if running 8s is what you want to do then the v-rod is gonna be a money pit for that. Your best bet if you still want to run HD is go with one of the air-cooled motor as they have some really big motors out there. I've seen some as big as 200 inches. But they have thick after market cases that can make some really big power.

Getting back to the thread. Have the bike dyno'd stock then do your upgrades. Only way to find out what your money got you.

Harley always gives a print out of before and after dyno numbers when you do upgrades, at least the one by me does.

what do you think it would take to get a v-rod in the 8s? I think a motor like you have a light weight chrome'moly chassis with a wide slick would get there. Also some good drag shocks, air shift, racepak, heavy duty clutch to hold that much horsepower. Your bike should run deep 9s the way in is if you can get traction. I think you have an absolutely awesome bike. I've yet to see a v-rod with the power that your bike is making . You do all your own work to it like the motor is what I'm talking about. I could make some good money with that bike street racing especially those little punks riding the crotch rockets.

Thanks

The engine 8s yes, but the rest of the "stock" bike no.
If everything but an engine is changed, is it a 8s V-Rod any more?

It's a combination of power, weight reduction and hability to get the power to the ground (clutch, gearing, traction, wheelbase). Those who have made it with V-Rod frames don't have a 300 hp engine, but the rest of the pieces of the puzzle has been tweeked to get there.. Oh yeah!!! and a heck of a rider, that's a BIG part on getting those times securely and constantly

I have a 2012 Night Rod Special. 1250 engine, Screaming Eagle Tuner, Vance & Hines 2 to 1, and the Screaming Eagle Air Filter. My biked dyno'd at 124 horsepower and 82 Foot lbs of torque. Its great fun, don't get me wrong but I want more. I would like to double this #. What is the best way to go about this ?

Even with a stroker motor or turbo/supercharger, you will only get around 150-160hp to the rear wheel. If you really want 200+hp to the wheel you have the wrong bike. There was a thread on here, where once you get to a certain power level, the case will have to be strengthened or it will cause engine failure.

You can run 8's with a Busa with just spray and tune. I have seen many big hp Busas at the strip too. Local guy has a just head work, billet internals, and spray... putting down 350+ whp.
