I hope you applied for a patent before publishing this idea. If not, you may now be precluded from obtaining one. (I didn't read the whole thread)

Usually software is covered under COPYRIGHT laws, not patent.

I'm sure the PATENT for the data stream on ECM's has already been covered years ago.

All these cool little lawsuits by Apple and many others are primarily copyright and DMCA violations.

Patents are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE to obtain, unless we're talking multi-millions in potential sales to protect. Copyright is relatively simple to enforce.

Nice...

Definately will NOT be done by MWT6.

Have the fairing blank on order - 3 week lead time.

Have a "donor" DX fairing to cut the headlight mount out of, to glass into the new fairing (well, almost have one - still looking really).

After I get it fitted (and likely swap the bars for clip-ons, and make a new "riser" mount for the factory instrument cluster to get it lower), I'll likely build a "dashboard" under the windshield lip to hold the Archos and mount my Radar Detector display and some other stuff. Really need to have the fairing in-hand to go any further though.

So, for now - I just get to "enjoy the ride", as all my other "plotted" mods are contingent on how the fairing thing works out...

Brett,
Your mounting setup came out really sweet. Nice and clean. Do post up a pic of the whole bike with the mount too.

If anyone is looking for a cheap way to do this then this might be of interest:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=200618921029
I've just bought one
Now, anyone know of a source for the OBD2 to Deutsch cable?

Steve

Awesome deal!

For anyone interested in making their own OBD2 to Deutsch cable you can follow the instructions on the DIY site.

http://users.eastlink.ca/~reastwood/...talink%20Cable

FYI, after following a thread (http://www.1130cc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152142) on the EFI group I added the following to PDash. Basically it allows you to observe the # of samples you've recorded at each Throttle Position/RPM combination in real-time. This is for riders with MasterTune like devices where you need to have a good sample set to create your maps.

Noticed that Cobra has iRadar for the iPhone and Android.
It communicates via Bluetooth.
Does this mean something has changed with the iPhone Bluetooth that might allow PDash implementation on the iPhone.

I highly doubt it. What it most likely means is that the Cobra's iRadar is simply using one of the few bluetooth profiles that iPhone supports. I would guess PAN. The problem for PDash is that all/most of the OBD2 bluetooth enabled scantools use SPP.

Thanks!
That explains it.
Been playing with the development kit.
So, If I unlock my phone there may be a way to port things over?
Thanks for your time!
Been following the thread..... Great work!

No Bluetooth would probably be fine at first.
Have you tried a cabled version for testing the prot?.
Got to charge the iPhone anyway.

Or maybe just use the iPhone as a hotspot for the N810.

I've a donor DX cowl you can have for $85 shipped free to Florida. It has a (glued on) Camera mount that needs removed....but overall condition is great.
PS:I've completed a similar fairing project. You'll need to trim alot of plastic from the bottom & sides..... or extend the fairing outward or upward by 6 inches d/t fork rake.
