Rear brake light switch FAIL - cause engine "misses"?
Riding the bike one last time this past weekend and, sure enough, about 100 miles from home bike started "missing". Felt like it could have been bad gas or something. Pulled over and got some fuel injector cleaner and put in fresh gas. Went to start the bike and noticed smoke coming from the bottom of the bike and saw the rear brake switch basically melting. At that point, i turned off the ignition, called the tow truck and its now at the dealer.
Question - could the failed brake switch be a cause or symptom. Could a shorting sensor mess with the electronics such that the bike would misfire? For background, I've got an 07 VRSCAW with SE heads and cams with a Daytona Twin Tec ECU. My exhaust is a BUB 7 2-1. as a side note, the switch has been dead for a while, I noticed it a couple months ago but just hadn't fixed it (I use my front brake always so didn't worry about it too much)
Any input would be appreciated as I wait for the dealer's diagnosis.
