Need advice on possible '03 purchase

Need some help/suggestions... I am looking at an '03 with a salvage title. Seller purchased from insurance company. Said rear shock was "bent" and signal light on same side cracked. He replaced both. Says rest of bike in perfect condition, etc. etc.
Question... If bike was in an accident and hit hard enough to bend a shock should one be concerned about further damage; i.e. frame straight? Bike is out of state and on Ebay. not the first time listed. Would need to travel to see in person.
Just wanted some opinions from guys (or gals) who have experience in here.

Thanks

Not sure why a bike would be salvage if damage was only a blinker light and shock. I would want to see the bike in person and make sure there is no frame damage and everything is in proper alignment. I think I would also insist on riding it as well. Is this the original owner, or just some guy who purchased it from an insurance company?

The seller is not the original owner. He purchased it from an insurance company. Logic tells me it was totalled for the insurance company to have it in the first place. Agree that it would be good to see in person and ride it. Problem is it would be difficult for me to determine if the frame was "compromised" unless it went down the road dog-legged!

If your serious, find a local shop that has experience with wrecked bikes and ask the sell if you could bring it there for inspection.

Seems kind of off. At least here in NJ, if the repair value exceeds the current value of the vehicle, then they write it off.

And currently an 03 is worth about $7500 retail and about $5500 trade in. (Kelly Blue Book)

Definitely needs to be check out in person...

Thanks guys. Sounded a bit too good to be true. Also risky to purchase sight unseen. Think I'll contact the seller and see what can be arranged. Its not too far away.

I have a 03 with a salvage title i did it myself hit a trailer hitch in the road when passing a semi at around 75 mph bent my rim and put a big hole in the oil pan the insurance totaled it and let me buy it back i had to get it to pass mo state inspection and send in my title and recived a title that say's salvage title on it they said that if i did not do that that i would not be able to buy license for it when it came time to renew them. the insurence co in mo. send's a paper to the state when something is salvage so i would make sure all the paper work on the title is ok so you will be able to license with no problem.far as the bike I would go and replace the swing arm just to be safe

How cheap? If it is cheap enough, it is a good deal. I bet alot more parts were replaced already. Have it inspected properly. Joe
