Talking TRUE Stock Exhaust Customization!

Now, before I begin, I do want to point out if you attempt this, Im not responsible for any damage you might cause. I am one of those CDXA owners that could never be happy with the exhaust and didnt have a ton of money laying around. When I bought the bike, it already had Black Widow slip-ons on it. Initially, I was happy with the sound but it just wasnt right. From there, I took them off and customized 2 Gibson exhaust tips to fit on the stock baffles. Again, I was happy for a bit but it was short lived. Did the V-Mod some time later, happy for a bit but still not satisfied. I just finished my last and final modification. This is still the stock exhaust but chopped up, wrapped the down pipes, cut the O2 sensor bungs out and rewelded in slugs, and painted the rest of the collector with high temp flat black paint. Now Im finally happy with it! I will point out if you dont like loud exhausts, DO NOT DO IT!! This made it extremely loud. But the cool side is is the 1ft flames that shoot out at night on decel and the sound to me will get heads turning before your anywhere close to them . Also, Im still not quite done yet. The wrap is tannish in color which is kind of growing on me but in time I will be using a flat black silicone paint to match the rest. Im sure there will be plenty of you that will look down to what I did but not all of us have tons of money laying around for an off the shelf exhaust that tons of other people have. Screw that! I do modifications that are very nice on the wallet, look great, perform amazing, and most of all are one of a kind. Hope you guys like it!

Wait - you disconnected the O2 sensors? Do you have the fuel enriched somehow? With no baffles, no back pressure, it won't last. Pull the sparkplugs and see what color they are. These bikes are lean to start with, and an exhaust like that makes it leaner! The decel pop is telling you it is running badly. If nothing else, buy an autotune and put the bungs back in - O2 sensors are there for a reason! Plenty of folks have made stuff for cheap, me included. Cheap that works is OK. Cheap that burns a hole in your piston is bad. Put it on a dyno, and see what the AFR looks like. See what kind of power this makes. Noise is not power, nor speed. It is just noise, and other than making noise, this exhaust is a ticking time bomb. These motors like some back pressure. Welcome to 1130cc. Mods that are unsafe or unsound are bad mods. This is a bad mod. Looks cool, don't work. Stay safe. Save your motor! Joe

CPT, thank you for your insight. Ive been in the automotive industry for quite some time now and I agree 110% with what you have said, which is exactly why this post was only about the mod itself. I currently do have a PC-V with auto-tune in it now, dummy O2's, and the mapping was done by a good friend of mine that runs drag bikes on the weekends. Motor itself was running better then ever, breathing much better. Its the same thing getting one of those off the shelf baffle-less exhausts, except this one was done pretty much for free. Ive taken whatever precautions I could with this but after the winter will be the true test.

I may be wrong but Autotune will not work w/o O2 sensors. Why did you discard the sensors?
