Congrats on ordering your bike. In my head ABS is the only reason to make this lateral move. Your 1100 Sabre is the performance equivalent of the VROD.

Not with 61.65 HP (45.0 kW)) @ 5500 RPM it isn't,not by a long shot. http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/hon...sabre_2002.php

Maybe the horsepower of a V 65 Sabre from 1984 could be compared to the that of a V Rod,but it's not the bike she owns.

Hey, that's just like the bike that I used to own, 'cept mine was a black/silver 1985 like this one: 1985 Honda V-65 Sabre.

That bike weighed 600 lbs. With me at 185, it would wheelie no pulling on handlebars, with WOT at 45 mph in first, 60 mph in second. Very fast (for 1985) and very fun.

.... I just didn't get the fact that Nicole's 1100 Sabre is actually a Shadow Sabre.........a horse of an entirely different and disappointing breed... the original Sabres (Magnas also) of the eighties were magnificent motorcycles.

A close friend of mine had one of those also, along with a V 45 version. He was active in the Honda V4 Sport Touring Society for a time.

I had the V 45 Magna, remarkable motor. Liked V-4's so well that I later traded it in on one of the first 1200 of the XVZ Yamaha Ventures that were imported into the USA in '83. Simliar to this one except mine was black with orange pinstriping.

Air suspension front & rear, ergonomically adjustable handle bars, an adjustable knob 4 position rear damping, great weather protection. I rode that bike over 50,000 miles in the 3 years I owned it. All over Ohio, Upper New York state to Key West & to the top of Pike's Peak. One of the best machines I've ridden. It's unfortunate that they were restyled to resemble Electra-Glides.

Actually in some ways you are right ... Going from the Sabre to a D-H: the only Harley that handles at all like my bike is the V-Rod. I also liked the Deluxe but she didn't handle as well (IMHO) I wanted to find a Harley that would not leave me missing my Sabre and I think the V-Rod line are more comparable than any other family in the H-d line-up. Ofcourse the V-Rods have more power!!!

I did not test ride the new 1300 cc Sabre to see how that compared (or the Fury)but did not feel a need to after riding the SE & the Muscle.

Thanks ... with the Mods I have in mind I think I will be better able to get the 'tuff' look I want better with the Muscle. I liked all the Chrome on the SE but since I'm not one to spend a lot of time cleaning so I went with the Muscle.
