2003 V Buy or Walk?

Had some free time this afternoon and went to check out an '03 with...drum roll...2,600 miles. Second owner, bought it from a Dr. and this guy never had time to ride...blah. Has a few extras...grips, levers, replaced stock cans with the Screamin' Eagle slip ons (looks the same as stock, but with the Screamin' Eagle script lettering, battery tender, etc. Price is pretty good ~$6,500.

I was hoping this would be a "barn find" in near perfect condition. It did have some cob webs and was a little dirty, but all fixable in an afternoon.

Here's the uh ohhh part...bike has an oil leak. Guy said it leaks "a little" and didn't really think it was bad. I ran a napkin under the frame and there was some oil...more than a few drops. He said he took it to a dealer and they said it was "ok" and bikes leak oil sometimes. Uhhh...mine never have.

What say you boys...buy or walk?

Knock him a bit off because of the leak and then fix the stator grommet with some silicone sealant.....

tell hem 5k is all you will go because you have to put new tires and have the oil leak fixed at the dealer, then steal it and do what stevel said.

Good feedback. The bike started up fine and sounded good. I didn't ride as tag was expired.

I wonder if the bike sitting for extended periods without being ridden would have caused the seals to deteriorate?

I'm not sure what the worse case scenario would be from a cost standpoint, but if I did have to spend a few bucks I'd still be fine.

Your answer is posted above.

Tell him Vrods don't leak oil. Offer 5K cash and be able to walk away, You'll own it .
