Quite. I'm well aware my V-Rod is not a terribly brilliant bike, and my Softail is a lousy one, but I derive huge pleasure from both of them, and when I can't use 'em and have to take something more practical (it is peeing with rain today, so I am using the KTM) I am always disappointed.

I stick with the view that the V-Rod is an excellent compromise between a fun, cool toy and a practical means of transport. It puts a big grin on my face, I can keep up with a sports bike unless the guy is busting a gut racing me, and I get where I am going without any particular problems.

You're arguing with me and I'm agreeing with you. I don't think comparing either the BMW's or Yamaha's (or most Jap and European bikes for that matter) to a Harley is fair because the foreign bikes exhibit a much higher level of engineering (I don't like saying this - but it's true). German's make better engines and transmissions, Italians make better brakes and suspensions, etc.
What I'm saying is that after many seat-of-the-pants evaluations, the V-Rod is a great ride. I'm not sure why this bike makes me feel so good when I ride it - but it definitely does.

Back to topic:
If this same corner attempt was taken by the same rider on any BMW or a Yamaha, there's no doubt in my mind that he would have made it easily.

Not only that but I found pictures on the internet. Snoops has no info on it so I am going with TRUTH, Harley makes the best touring bikes ever without bags or windshields.

I beg to differ!

Over the last few weeks I have tried several brands, including the K1600GT BMW. NONE of them fit me at all, noted I am a big/tall/fat guy so I have to deal with that. I really liked the new BMW but the footpeg location DOES NOT suit me at all and I really wanted one but that killed it. So from that alone I can say They, and all the other brands I tried, are NOT SUPERIOR or there would be an option for me in thier line up. The only problem for me with the vrod is I get saddle sore after about 300 miles and with me there's not much room for 2 up riding. I'm about to purchase a new FLD that fits me well and has pretty good handling. I'll bet you that with me on that bike(or the vrod)against an assortment of other brands of touring bikes my time from one end of the dragon to the other will be pretty close to any of your so called touring bikes. And on the big road nobody will run off and leave me without out getting a driving award from the LEOs.

Most of the import bikes are designed around short little Asians and who knows who the BMWs are designed for so for us big fat Americans Harleys fill the bill. So as far as I'm concerned nothing billed as "superior" is all that if it's useless to me regardless of what brand it is.

So I'll take my vrod or FLD and you can stereotype me any way you want. All this talk about image may be valid to some degree, I've witnessed it first hand myself. I've also witnessed the anti harley, elitetist image from the fans of other brands as well. Just don't lump everybody under the same stereotypes or it may bite you in the ass one day.

As for egos, I can only be responsible for my own, and it's not based on the brand of motorcycle I ride or how big my belly is or isn't!

Loved the sparkles from the RG's bottom on the corners.... I guess that confirms them as an excellent choice for those kind of roads...

Someone here needs to go to eagle rider and rent an electraglide rather than spewing mass ignorance about good touring bikes. I have ridden many and it is a very fine touring machine, and handles quite nicely considering it's size.
