2006 NR getting forward controls... finally

I bought my bike new 6 years ago and have wanted to switch to forwards since... I'm finally getting around to it.

I'm all set to order up my parts list (from the sticky):

1 x 72023-51D Break light Switch kit, R
1 x 24226-01A Kit, Chrome Brake Pedal, Rear
1 x 33833-01A Kit, Chrome Shift Lever, VRSC
1 x 50809-02A Kit, Chrome Foot peg mounting
1 x 47988-05BK Frame, Lower, RH, Black
2 x 41750-06 Bolt, Banjo Brake line
1 x 44740-06 Master Cylinder Assy, Rear
1 x 41677-06 Brake line Assy, Rear
4 x 41751-06A Gasket, Brake line
1 x 7951 Nut, Hex Jam
1 x 3731M Screw, Button Hex cap
1 x 33758-01 Shifter Rod
1 x 10184 Clip, T-Stud, small ID
1 x 4240 Screw, Hex Head
5 x 10231 Clamp
1 x 94073-03 Screw, M8x1.25x30LG BTN

And I noticed that the footpeg mounting kit is chrome. Has anyone done this conversion on a NR with these parts? Doesn't the chrome footpeg mount look weird with a black frame and black footpegs, or did you just use after market pegs?

I noticed that v-mod has black mounting kits, but I was curious to see if anyone else has gone down this road and had opinions. I've never know this forum to be short on opinions.

Thanks for reading,
Fuzzy

Yeah that is the parts list from when I did the mod to my 2007 back in 2007. It is a full list of every part that I paid for and needed for the swap. I let the shop wrench my bike, but this is really the easiest mod you can do on a Nightrod. I would not have any problem doing this on my own if I had to do it today.

I have the chrome engine cover set from the factory so I went with the chrome parts. You can just as well go with either factory brushed or black if you wish.

One thing I did not do right away was swap the foot pegs. After about six months I finally went with a beefy set of Willy G pegs and I am very happy with them. Much more room for the feet as opposed to the stock highway pegs.

Cool - thanks Ken. I kept everything as is except the foot peg mounts, I ordered those in black to match my existing pegs.

One more update to this adventure... Cycle-parts.com emailed today and said the can no longer supply Harley Davidson parts due to an issue with their distributor. My order has been cancelled and it's back to square one for me.

I have a load of parts on order to install the forward brake control. Those of you that have replaced the right front frame piece I have a question. When removing the frame piece do I need to support the rear part of the frame to keep it from moving downward? Thanks
