By the time you are warned you are tagged, only warning will be for older style mobile radar units. Most all hand held units are laser.

The newer detectors will pick up the Laser if the LEO is targeting others ahead of you. Won't it?

The reason laser (Lidar) is so effective is the narrow targeting beam (you look through targeting sight) and the fact it is passive when the trigger isn't pulled.
So you point it at the target. it is sending a very very narrow light beam when you click the trigger so you have a near instant reading.
Its darn near detector proof.
To be honest if your local LEO's have laser radar its not worth the money buying a detector. Only reason your detector is going off is because you have been targeted.

Read the bottom
"It's important to point out, as good as these detectors are at spotting laser, the great likelihood is that by the time your detector sounds its alarm, you have already been clocked with laser"

this is true, but if the lidar is activated on the vehicle(s) ahead of you, it will be detected by this device. Although it will not detect you being hit by lidar until you've been hit, many LEOs tend to be a bit more nice when you are seen slowing down before you see them, even after they've tagged you.
This unit will also detect construction zones using electronic signage, as well as other emergency vehicles.

I've been saved from lidar several times with detectors over the years. Sometimes it was targeting vehicles in front of me, while other times I was the only vehicle in the vicinity.
The distance at which the officer decides to try and nab you is important, since the odds of the laser reflecting back to the gun decreases dramatically over greater distances.
There's a good chance that the radar/laser detector could spot the signal even though it didn't get bounced back effectively enough to determine speed...especially on a motorcycle where you don't have too much flat surface area perpendicular to the road and aren't required to mount a front license plate. The headlight is about the only good reflective surface from the front, and the rear license plate is still awfully small and tough to aim at over long distances (say, over 1,200 ft.).

Got Saved Again!!!
today on the way back from dropping off a borrowed exhaust bracket to photogger, I hopped on the 132 and was cruising at a nice leisurely 80mph. Entering into a rural area w/a few dwellings, the LED indicator started flashing like a stripper in heat on the Ka band. I slowed down and put my head on a swivel but couldn't locate a LEO anywhere. Only thing I did see was a mostly white sedan parked at a mailbox getting mail. As I rolled by this sedan I noticed a huge blue LEO star on the door and a radar gun sticking out the window.
Saved again! Best investment I made for the bike...ever

I like the TPX but.....I have a FLHTCU now and would like the HD Road Tech radar detector, HD part # 92098-04. HD has discontinued it. I am wondering if any of you V-Rod guys might have one you are no longer using or know of one that is not being used. $20 finders fee paid by paypal to for info leading to purchase. I'd prefer new, but like new or excellent condition is OK too. Please e-mail me, as I don't frequent these forums much.

Thanks, Dan.
P.S....nice mounts on the V-rods!
