Ever since the the error code for right-rear turn signal would come on every so often. I always thought it was just a connection rattling loose as I would take things apart, reseat the connection, clear the code, and all would be well for a little bit. But after a year and a half of the issue periodically coming back I finally said screw it and took teh bike to the shop. They replaced the control module and the issue still happened, the only thing they have found to fix it is to install a load balancer (which shouldn't be needed). So on Tuesday they are going to call harley and try to figure out whats going on. Anybody else had this issue? Faulty modules in general or something?

Hi all,

Wanted to share my DDM installation "strategy" ...

Photos are attached.

I have a 55W ballast for high beam and a 35W ballast for low beam. I also did the high beam/low beam mod, so the amount of light coming out of this thing with the high beam on is obnoxious to say the least... should be very useful in the rural highways around here during the night hours.

The ballasts are located on top of the battery. I taped them together, bottom to bottom; this allowed me to efficiently fit them in the space while providing plug clearance and also keeps the heat sinks on the outsides/exposed. I zip tied this "cluster" to the battery strap. This placement requires a topless setup, or at a minimum, remove the snorkel from the airbox. At this point, I just opted to remove the snorkel. I used a dremel to remove the snorkel.

The factory light plugs are on the left side, I routed the connectors over to them, plugged in the "spades" and securely wrapped them up with electrical tape. (no photos of this piece.)

I used some heavy duty 3M mounting tape to mount the igniters on the bottom of the battery case. Top igniter is low beam, bottom igniter is high beam.

Overall, I think this will work very well... everything fits very cleanly and I have no clearance issues. The system should also be decently cooled in this location.

Ride safe!

Wiring Garmin Nuvi 1490T GPS to the 04 B

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a Garmin Nuvi 1490T GPS in my truck and have it attached to the 04 B using an eCaddy mounting system that utilizes the Harley-Davison handgrip screws. I tried using the existing 12 volt SAE 2 pigtail connector that I use on my battery tender to plug into a pigtail-cigarette lighter adaptor specifically for the GPS unit. When I plugged in the unit into the cigarette lighter, the unit went into a cycle of thinking it was being plugged into a desktop computer, then said it was loading maps, then asked for my password and before I had a chance (and it did not matter if I entered the password or not) kept recycling thru all the phases and would not get into the normal navigation phase. Since the pigtail that I use for the battery tender is obviously hot wired to the battery, I am wondering if I have to connect the unit using a motorcycle wire adaptor and wire it to a different power source like one of the fuses that is not connected to the hot battery bus. It works great on its own battery power, but only lasts a few hours before needing to be recharged. I have tried to contact Garmin, but have not heard from them. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
