Vrod-tlam 08-23-2004, 07:28 AM Went to my first ever 1/4mi race this weekend at the Virginia Bike Fest, had a great time! :hyper: I can see how this can become addicting fast
After finally getting thru the safety inspection line, got out on the track for some practice runs. I started a little slow, but got better each time as I gained confidence. I was in the 'All Harley' streetbike class, they also had a regular Steetbike class (mostly crotch rockets) and also a Superbike class.
I ended up dialing in an 11.88 and got my first win in round 1 !!!!
R/T....0.033
60'.....1.828
330....4.930
1/8....7.580
mph...92.30
1000..9.923
1/4...11.935
mph..111.41
I was stoked, what a rush! When we finally got to the second round, I was paired up against a sportster with about a 1.5 second slower dial in. I was so anxious to go, I feakin red-lighted :slap: THAT SUCKS! I could have beat him, oh well, get em next time, right! :diablo:
I hope Sam(VotRod) gets his bike fixed soon, he was having some problems with the motor cutting out around 8000 rpm. Hopefully gets his new Dynojet electric shifter working, I want to get one when I know his will work. :) Looking forward to racing you when everything is working Sam!

kspz3 08-23-2004, 09:11 AM Congrats on the win VRod-Tlam . excellent reaction time and good numbers - sounds like you had a great time- I red lit first round on Saturday night running a dragbike - .483 - bought back in and lost second round by .006 at the top end.....this past time can be nerve racking..... when is your next race scheduled - Kevin
Vrod-tlam 08-23-2004, 10:24 AM Thanks Kev, I will definitely have to practice more. That stinks loosing by .006
Next race will probably be Labor Day weekend at the 1/8 mi track in Elizabeth City, NC. I hit 7.57 a couple of times at the 1/8 mi mark this weekend, want to see if I can do better on the 1/8 mi track!
kspz3 08-23-2004, 02:01 PM I went through alot of losses before I started to worry more about consistency and less about best ET - ET tend to slide down over time. My best in 1/8 in the 7.3x range - and 95MPH. but not much differant than doing it in 7.3.... I am assuming that you have 28 tooth - which works reasonably well - how consistent are your 60' times? KSP
kspz3 08-23-2004, 02:02 PM The 1/8th should be fun - not as much op end out of the big Rice Rockets - but they will stilll have you by 15MPH and .75 seconds - my guess.....
KSP
Hey Tim, those are good numbers from what little I have seen... you're addicted now!!! Are you running a regular map on the PCIII or building your own? I saw Sam's electric shifter at the rally, I think his bike is behaving better without the defective PC hooked up. (I wonder if he got it back yet) That sucks about redlighting against the Sportster, he would have been a piece of cake!
Vrod-tlam 09-10-2004, 01:35 PM Yeah, I'm addicted now, but the wife keeps reigning me in!
I'm trying to figure out a way to get into a points division next season at either Richmond or Eliz City. Don't know if I can pull it off yet.
It's a blast, lot of things I'd like to do to make bike faster.
Just running a 020 map now. Thinking about going to the FAIC pipe w/Race Tuner. Wonder how that would work with a supercharger??? :sinister:
Mitchell 09-10-2004, 03:12 PM Vrod-tlam - let me know if you get the pipes. I'm still making that decision myself.
mattj 09-10-2004, 07:11 PM Tim I hope it goes well with the super charger, Some time in the future I wont to get one on my bike. Would love to see the bike around 170HP.

Impressive times Vrod-tlam!!!!!
I look forward to my first time at the track with the V-ROD too.
I think I'd be happy with 14 seconds or less for the 1/4 mile. Under 12 seconds? Now that would be a trip.
Congratulations and good luck with your future racing endeavors.
