Now that you are famous.....fas a result of the Hot Bike feature we need to hear moe about you. Many of the newer members probably do not know some of your background so I thought that I would throw a few questions out there for you ....... So KAz - how did you get started in racing - and motorcyles? What kind of bikes have you ridden in the past and what type of racing have you been invovled with (both car and bike)......KSP

When I was about 11 I started racing Motocross!I made it to Expert but Had a BAD Crash in training"Multiple Fractures/Severe Concussion" my Parents made me Give Up Racing Motorcycles! :( As I got Older I soon Found FAST CARS and soon had one of the Baddest on the Streets !I was a Street Racer for awhile, but after Lots of Trouble"TICKETS" I got smart and took it to the Track!I progressed Very Quickly and soon Had one of the Fastest SS/O Mustangs in the Country!I went through an UGLY Divorce"LOST EVERYTHING" and got ride of my race car and all my Stuff!Well Like The Phoenix Bird Rising from the Ashes I got my $hit back together .I Decided I need a Fast Fun Car so I bought My Supercharged Saleen Speedster!I blew it up in 3 Months! I need something to keep me entertained while my Car was being rebuilt!I had a Very Special Client But me the V-rod as a Gift and that started the INSANITY!I can Never keep anything stock so I started with my V-rod!I was the First with So Many Parts I don't Know where to Begin?I have Bought and Tried Just about every combo and Test More Thing then you would ever imagine! My Bike has had Over 1000 dyno Pulls Over the Last couple of Years and I don't know how many passes down the track trying to be the First Stock"internals"Motored V-rod in the 9's!I would Be the First one to the Track and the Last to Leave Every Test&Tune or Bike Night!I would Go through 50lbs of NITROUS OXIDE in one Night of Testing!!!!!!!!!!!I won a Few Street Bike Shoot Outs but The V-rod is Very Limited in what Classes it can Race with the MODS I have Done!I now have my Turbo V-rod that will be at 300+rwhp with any Luck! Then my NOS V-rod is Getting a Big Bore Kit from Sam and a Custom Turbo System that will make 350+rwhp!Then Sandy Kosman is Doing 17inch Light weight wheels and Upside down forks,Brembo Brakes,Carbon Fiber Body to MY bike IN preparation for MY WORLD RECORD SPEED Attempts at the BUB International Speed Trials September 6-10!I was Holding off on a Sponsorship deal to make my announcement but it never went through"Thanks Miguel" :slap: I have Kosman Specialties,Turbo Tec USA,NRP Dyno Tunning,Dryer's Top Rods,Breathless Performance, giving me what Support they can but the Financial Burden of Going for the World Record is on My and My VISA!!!!!!!!I will keep everybody Posted as we Get closer and how the testing goes!I was Hoping to have 2 Bikes ready and a Spare but My Motor deal feel through and I will be Lucky to have the 1 turbo bike ready!Thats My secret I'm going for the Fastest Harley"Non streamliner" and the Fastest V-twin"Non Streamliner"!I have a Great Team including my Ace Dan Wright my Head Tech Consultant to Guide me in My Goal to be The FASTEST HARLEY DAVIDSON on the Planet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :kaz:

Kaz - that is pretty exciting stuff - What is the goal speed - the record that you are chasing - BTW I was playing around doing a little research on LSR - note that they have recently begun requiring special leathers with no perforation or ventilation material (could be an opportunity to move into a more conservative scheme if you are going for such an ambitious goal)- also I believe steering damper required to run - I am sure you may be aware of this but wouldn't want you to be left standing at the tech schack..... Are you looking at any special fairings to help on the aerodynamics? Have you considered runs at the lake beds or Houston or Maxton.... This is pretty exciting stuff - and quite dangerous - how did you allow yourself to drift from the drag strip to thinking about Land Speed Racing......

And Kaz may you continue to be blessed...... and I hope you find a good sponsor - you certainly could provide some strong promotion within the VROD community - the best in that regard - that should be very attractive to a potential sponsor.... How were you able to figure out the top Harley speed - I tried to research the records and was never able to figure it out - will you be running a specific class... with that Turbo you should certainly be able to make some miles per hour - but do be careful - things can get messy quick at those high speeds - and I hear the salt is a bit slickery also. Maybe we can do a feature on your effort at VRODRacing - you would be the first article....anyway - is your turbo up and running at this point - have you done any testing - how about the big bore, turbo, NOS set up that you mentioned - what is the status there - hell that scares me just thinking about it - do you think that it will be able to stay together? And you are projecting 350HP? Is that a Sam @ Turbotec custom build? .....KSP

Kaz - kspz3@vrodracing.com - I will also forward you some of the research work I did on the Vincent runs from the 50s - they got to 185 MPH (Russel Wright and Robert Burns - Sidecar 163MPH) streamlined but fairly stock motor - and you may remember Rollie Freeze "The Bathing Suit" guy that did 150 MPH in 1948 on Bonneville - Coming up on 50 years for the NZ Vincent records.... They went to Bonneville in 1955 did 198 burning 20% Nitro - that was the end of an era of production motorcyles holding the all out motorcycle speed records - streamlined rockets from then on. Ironworks did a 165MPH machine awhile back - I am not sure what engine that they used - I may try for a High Speed pass at Maxton this fall - but running the alternate machine/you know the kind w/4 cylinders, fairings etc. ..... I thought about doing a stock VROD run (hoping for 150MPH) down there but not sure if I want to play with high speed on the VROD + I do not have a steering damper setup either - that would be a great project for Sandy - especially a nicely integrated unit that mounts either above or below the triple tree. Of course Maxton and Bonneville are two dramatically differant things - Maxton is only trap speed at end of a mile compared to the two way pass and measured mile. North of 185MPH is a pretty scary zone if you are chasing that 189 VTWIN record that you mentioned earlier - from a traction and aerodynamics perspective - I was intimidated by a custom fairing setup - since it introduces some unknowns - There was a good article I believe www.landspeed.com a guy that did 250 on Busa wrote it - goes into the whole traction, tires, fairings discussion. Again Kaz you are going way beyond were my heart will allow me to go - PLEASE be careful in your pursuits - you are playing with all the marbles here...... Be sure to run a disciplined test program and progressive build up of speed on the salt - records can wait.... if need be - STAY SAFE and GodSpeed!

What is classified as a streamliner? Aaron wilsons Buell with RR bodywork & I believe a 1650cc V-twin went 202.989 at Bonneville a couple years ago.

I thought that was the record? Or is any bike with a fairing considered a streamliner?

as I understand it there are several degrees of streamlining ,, the biggest chore at bonneville is the endurance of the motor to withstand WOT for the entire measured mile vs the speed traps of maxton ,,, also I believe it was Don Vesco that mentioned training your self to not combat the bikes dendency to drift around on the salt

I can barely keep up w/ the drag racing groups and the different classes & requirements of each. What little I've seen on the flats , there are many many classifications. If you ride a 2 - stroke Honda and run with one eye closed the record is...... he he he That part was a joke, but there really does seem to be a bunch of classifications to run. Which is good, kinda like Bracket racing, if there was only one motorcycle class, and it was only heads up, the guy with the $$ wins. ( most of the time.) money buys tech, and riders and well you know, Vance & Hines! he he he

on the other hand I was watching PBS in the middle of the night not long ago ( I know...get a life) and some unknown showed up out there with a turbo Busa and beat that record by a HUGE margin! He had never been there before! he he he so there goes my $$ theory maybe. ok disregard all the first part of this post ..he he he

good luck on your endeaver Kaz! Ride safe.
