Most 93+ Octane fuels work fine unless you're racing

OOPS didn't notice it was a Destroyer... you can still use 93+ in a pinch, but watch for detonation under hard throttles... find some 100 octane at the local airport

Got you beat.... I started in '78

All VP fuels are available in 5- (19 liter), 15- (56 liter), 30- (113 liter) and 54-gallon (204 liter) pails and drums except where noted.

NEW! U4.2TM
The latest generation of our U4 based fuels, this fuel is a direct pour-in replacement for U4 with little to no jetting changes required - +2 main jets and +2 pilot jets at the most. Makes power equivalent to U4 with no sticky residue and a less pungent odor. U4.2 passes AMA amateur fuel rules and is perfect for club level racing, CCS, WERA and AFM. U4.2 makes up to 6% more power than pump gas.
• Color: Blue
• Oxygenated: Yes
• Motor Octane: 102
• Specific Gravity: .784 at 60° F

U4e
Developed for those states that restrict the use of MTBE in fuels. Will work well in the same applications as U4, with comparable power increases.

• Color: Pink
• Oxygenated: Yes
• Motor Octane: 93
• Specific Gravity: .718 at 60° F

In the above which is direct from VP's web site The U4 ranges from 93 to 102 octane..... I stand by what I posted earlier... 93 will run the motor, but may detonate at high throttle openings (load).... AVGAS at 100+ octane would be a good substitute for the VP U4.2 but you probably wouldn't see the same performance. There's a lot of drag racers on this forum who should be a lot more knowledgable than I about substituting fuels.

Sorry Cap, Wasnt saying what you said was wrong. Just IMHO a race engine deserves race fuel not pump gas. In my X I just sold, it only ever ran on VP 103 or VP 109 Race fuel. It certainly helps to have certified quality fuel, removes all doubt :deal:

I run VP C-12 unless you're running AHDRA then you have to run U-4 but it gums up if you leave it in to long. The newer U 4 E doesn't gum up up but mine runs better on C 12.

I wouldn't be comfortable recommending that you use anything but what is recommended!!! You don't want to burn anything up. Pump Gas won't work!!!
