I'm a Harley/Buell/Suzuki/KTM dealer from Dubuque, Iowa. I've been involved in some form of racing for at least 30 years, but I really just took up drag racing as a personal sport in 2000, thats when we had a new track open just 20 miles from the dealership. I started at the drag strip on a Buell X1 with wheelie bars and I was just out to have fun on Sunday afternoons but once you cash a couple of checks you get a whole lot more serious. The addiction caused me to go to a couple of AHDRA events in 2002. At the end of the 2002 season I went to the local track for there NHRA National Dragster Challenge event as a spectator with my son. When I realized that this was one of the only races in our area that a sportsman racer could win a Wally Award, I decided to enter our demo V-Rod into the ET bike class. There was 31 metrics and me with the V-Rod, I have the Wally! In 2003 I found a wrecked V-Rod that is currently one of the bikes I drag. In 2003 I finished 5th in AHDRA's national points with a box stock engine running consistent 11.20's. Currently I am second in National points and second in the Eastern division points for the AHDRA. I'm pushing 160 HP but still don't have enough to beat Tripp Nobles. I also like to run several classes so I ussually have another V-Rod or 2 in the trailer for the index classes. My goal for 2004 is to beat Tripp once this season. My next race will be at Indy in September then Rockingham then Vegas. If you ever have a chance to race at an AHDRA event, do it. The V-Rod class is a heads up class and thats race'in. I have been doing R&D with my V-Rod for G2 Racing (Bryce & Smith) S&S Cycle and FAIC Exhaust.

Mindblower - Congrats on the Wally - I was runner up at our event for the trophy - lost to a top class car.......but I really wnated to win - BTW - I tried to drag race a KTM 500 in the eighties - that was a seriously ill concieved notion...... did real bad - keep them in the dirt. Can you tell us more about your setup on the headsup VRod - how are you making the horsepower and what else have you done for reduced weight or other racing mods? ALso how have you dine in the other classes that you are racing? What is it like to race on the AHDRA circuit?
