What is everyone else doing with the cheap plastic junk cover that's attached to the seat covering the rear fender? Mine is breaking up already and I know I can't be the only one. What is the fix or replacement for this? To put that on such a fine bike is a crime. Also it rubs on the fender stratching the paint. I know I'm a fat ass, but there's got to be something better.

I agree the plastic part is not pretty.
I just bought 2 for my VR and SG bikes.I like the way it pushes me forward.
I now have three old seats so if you want one just PM me I'll ship one to you free.:D

I may take you up on your offer. but I haven't decided in what direction I will go. thank you. I will try to sandwich the plastic flange between some alumiun to keep it from breaking anymore and screw it back to the seat. What about the stratching of your paint on the fender. The plastic rubbing on it will ruin the paint. I'm thinking of gluing some felt on it to help keep it from scuffing the paint. The seat itself is okay it's just that cheap plastic back cover.

My plastic seat cover is also breaking ,
i took some aluminium plate and sandwiched the plastic and make some duck tape on the fender for saving the paint .
i saw one with the seat only and the plastic bold on the fender bud how i just did it ?? have to ask hime next time. i think he didnīt have the race pack .

Yes and the bad thing is that there is no part umber for just the plastic part in the parts book. Mine is broke up too. I have big washers on it right now. I am going to have to put a brace on mine too like hellgium. You are right about the scratching of the paint. It still scratches if you have the race pack on it.
Carbon fiber with a gasket would look good and may be lighter.

They have a shop not far from me that does a lot of fiberglass work for boats, planes, and whatever. I will bring them the plastic seat part and let them try to make me a new one. Maybe they can use the old one for a mold or make a copy of it. I also glued some black felt on it and it helped from scratching the paint and doesn't show up too bad.

hey out there,
it's me Hellgium spoke from, I took off the whole plastic shit, made a nice little and light alloy frame (looks similar to a rollcage in a FuelCar) which I mounted directly to the rear frame through the holes that are allready there, so the seat is separatetd now from the cover and fixed in position during launch, over this frame there is a nice carbon fibre fairing screwed on so it can not contact the fender, smaller than the camel-hip style OEM-Part ... racepack can find place under it, but than its a bit greater. http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/6287/fahrerlagermj3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
