Hey everyone. Wondering if any one can give me some ideas for a seat. I am 6'5" and always carry the girl on the back. I am looking for something that works well on the long hauls. We do a lot of 1000 mile 3 day weekend trips but we are hurting pretty bad by the time we get back home.

I don't like the tall boy seat at all, and I sat on the sundowner but it felt like I could steer the bike with my knees :banghead:

So I am looking for something that is comfy, looks good, doesn't push me forward, and comfortable for the girl also with a back rest for her. (I don't think I can use a one piece seat with a back rest)

Any ideas or recommendations??? So far with all of my requirements I am thinking a custom seat is the only way to go.
any ideas?

Custom. Thats what I'm looking at as well.

if you don't like the tallboy, I would guess the only option would be custom seat.

Or you could try some extended foward controls (reduced reach controls flip around)

Six-five? You'll need extended forwards for sure. The sundowner will work with these and be the easiest and best option. Cheaper than a custom seat that will work with a passenger. Try http://v-mod.com

Thanks for the thoughts. I was pretty much thinking I would have to do a custom seat but just wanted to make sure I didn't overlook something obvious.

And the sundowner just really isn't an option. when I sat on the seat it felt like I was sitting on the airbox. the seat just felt awkward for my size.

The seat alone won't get the job done. For you to get comfortable I would look at the seat, bars and the foot controls as a package. Look at my gallery pic for my setup. :2cents: I'm 6'6" :)

Tallboy set will get you part of the way there. Not the best-looking seat, but comfortable as hell - moves you up and back and has a comfortable pillion. Here's an early version of my bike on a road trip with a Tallboy seat on it:

Steppenwolf, that seat actually doesn't look to bad now that I see it on a bike. in that picture your bike looks exactly like mine. flat black 2006 D. How comfortable is your passenger on that seat? How many miles a day can you two ride?

I actually like the bars on the D as they are. I am not leaning over them and they don't seem to cause any pain in my back or shoulders. I just seem to get some hot spots on my butt after about 300 miles. as far as the controls I have some adjustable 4" extenders on order to stretch my legs out when I am on the high way pegs.

This is what I got ordered for my highway pegs:

She is VERY comfortable on the seat - it's her favorite. We've done some 500 mile days on it - and Sandy is almost 5'11"

I have not had it on my bike for a while - went to a Sundowner (kind of cramped - definitely reduces legroom) and back to stock for around town. Been thinking about selling the Tallboy, actually - strictly because I have been slowly customizing the bike and the tall look doesn't fit what I'm doing. You interested? LMK I was thinking about $200 or so - just need to look into how much shipping would be before I shoot myself in the foot. :)

I will keep that in mind. I want to look at a custom seat before I make a decision.

Cool. I'm not 100% sure yet I want to sell it - good road trip seat and may be a good seat pan to start from to make a custom.

What year is your bike? moco doesn't make a Tallboy seat for the 240 bikes.

The sundowner shortens the distance between you and the pegs. It's only problem.

tgc, I'm a big advocate of the Tallboy as well. I went reversed reduced reach for the pegs and I'm 6'9" and it drastically improved things for me. Pics in gallery of tallboy on more of a custom paint job. Good luck in your choice. Any questions, post here or PM me.

I had an 06 SE and put a tall boy and a set of reduced reach pegs on it (the correct way) and at 6 5" I was fine.

The seat is comfy and I rode two up often. Of course my two up was my 10 year old son so not sure thats a fair comparison.

If only they'd make a tallboy for the 240 tire models, I'd be very happy.

Tallboy, only way to go. I'm 6'7" and the seat is perfect for me but I never carry a pillion.
