I usually run an 1/8th mile in Maine so I have changed the front sprocket but not the rear. I was changing the rear tire for next season and found all of the screws on the rear sprocket were loose and had backed off. When the chain was off you could move the sprocket about an 1/8 th of an inch.

bud clean the bolds en tread (?) put some loctite 222 on it and that will be much better, and easy for removal with a small heater.

Low 1.40's but the track doesn't have Las Vegas traction either.

If your running around Maine check out MMDRA site. It's the Maine Motorcycle Drag Racing Asso. Andy Cook started it and is now the new track manager at Oxford so bikes will do well. The bikes are the largest group of racers there. Come on down!

Ya I emailed him a couple months ago...said there was a destroyer running there and another vrod too. At the time I had a BossNoss system that I wanted to run with...Had to offload it for some quick cash. I think im going to run the stock motor anyways just for kicks.

Definately will see you up there even if I dont run the bike...You from southern Maine or do you travel in?

I'm running 19/58 with a stock tranny. I haven't changed second gear yet. In Maine it's all bracket racing and I don't want to do anything that would put me out of AHDRA.

There are a lot of bikes, some full on dragsters and some street bikes, it doesn't matter because it's all bracket racing. There is a guy in Gorham that runs every week. He had a sportster but I thing is running a Suzuki dragbike this year. The man that won points for the year had a stock Fatboy.
It's a good time.

When I got my destroyer I had the same thing. It was scary. Now I check them before every race and after qualifying. Have not had a problem since. Knock on wood.

Very good idea indeed.

While at races I like to watch for this type of stuff. The competitive teams follow a sequence of maintenance activities or routines if you will, after every pass. Tire pressure and condition, chain tension, clutch adjustment, cooling the clutch down with a fan, fuel, oil levels, overall fastener security. This all may seem basic but if something breaks or comes up as it usually does after a pass, the routine has a tendency to change and people may be stressed or in a rush to make the next round in time. Last year a Destroyer suffered catastrophic failure because of to little oil after it was changed.

I asked a friend who runs a Top Fuel Harley if they used a check list and I was told their big team rule was simply, whatever job or task you start, finish completely, before moving on to something else.

Did just that, it looked like they had none before, the threads were clean.

Word to anyone putting a new one on the track, pull them and blue them and torque

We are waiting on the chain drive conversion to be delivered for the X. Still need more gear to get the mass rolling :-). We will add this check to the rituals between rounds and runs. Still hopping to have to do it twice! ;-).
BTY, Broke into the 200# class this weekend, Sunday night weigh in at 296.4!
