: Hitting Rev Limiter In 5th Gear motboy 01-07-2008, 05:07 PM Can anyone give me some insight into why the rev limit is being hit in top gear, I havn't had the Destroyer long. It wasn't doing for the first couple of meetings but has started in the last couple of times. Still learning about the bike so any info would be a great help. The bike had done 30 passes in the USA before we purchased and shipped to New Zealand. Mark: o2man98 01-07-2008, 05:56 PM Do some gearing changes. Take a couple teeth out of the rear sprocket. What kind of times are you running? patm 01-08-2008, 11:38 AM Mark, I agree gearing is a good place to start with, what number tooth rear sprocket are you running? If you bought it used it may have been changed. The rev limiter is adjustable. What have you got it set at? Bump it up to 10,000 RPM if it's not already there. How far out are you when it hits the rev limiter? How many passes on the clutch / bike now? Hold the front brake down hard and slowly release the clutch to see if you can get it to stall out to check for clutch slippage. If it just started doing this it may well be clutch slippage. How does it launch? What gear are you doing your burnout in? Should be second gear for burnouts. Try and find out if it's had the kill module ( P/N 33227-06 ) upgrade by Pingel. It could be as simple as setting the rev limiter a bit further out. We are racing this weekend in Christchurch and again at the New Zealand nationals on Feb 2 & 3rd at Masterton. Ivé got to laugh because you probably wont have any idea where these places are.
