Can anyone give me some insight into why the rev limit is being hit in top gear, I havn't had the Destroyer long. It wasn't doing for the first couple of meetings but has started in the last couple of times. Still learning about the bike so any info would be a great help. The bike had done 30 passes in the USA before we purchased and shipped to New Zealand.

Do some gearing changes. Take a couple teeth out of the rear sprocket.

What kind of times are you running?

Mark, I agree gearing is a good place to start with, what number tooth rear sprocket are you running? If you bought it used it may have been changed.

The rev limiter is adjustable. What have you got it set at? Bump it up to 10,000 RPM if it's not already there. How far out are you when it hits the rev limiter?

How many passes on the clutch / bike now? Hold the front brake down hard and slowly release the clutch to see if you can get it to stall out to check for clutch slippage. If it just started doing this it may well be clutch slippage.

How does it launch?

What gear are you doing your burnout in? Should be second gear for burnouts.

Try and find out if it's had the kill module ( P/N 33227-06 ) upgrade by Pingel. They can be contacted in the US @ 608-339-7999. If you plan on racing consider buying a spare.

Most importantly. Welcome to the Forum.

Thanks guys! it seems to launch fine, will try the clutch slip test in the weekend & check the teeth on the sprocket. Im doing the burnout in 2nd. It could be as simple as setting the rev limiter a bit further out.

Appretiate your help

Regards mark.

Unfortunatly over here we cant practice anywhere, so we only get to truly check things out on race day, so will keep you posted. We are racing this weekend in Christchurch and again at the New Zealand nationals on Feb 2 & 3rd at Masterton. Ivé got to laugh because you probably wont have any idea where these places are.

Mark I have friends who were married in Christchurch and my wife spent 6 months in Australia / New Zealand. I'm in Phoenix on holidays and was visiting Nick Task today who's from New Zealand as well. The world is getting smaller. Keep us posted. Pat.

Hi Pat the world does seem to be a small place, glad you know a bit about our location. Do you have any idea what the gearbox ratio is in top gear on the Destroyer.
