: Destroyer Production Numbers
V-Rod I FL 12-03-2007, 04:32 PM My understanding is that 638 (+-) bikes were built. AND there will be NO MORE.
Approximately 90% of that number have already been raced or started;
Leaving just 64 "New Destoyers" at this point in time with the number of those to get lower after this spring when more will be raced-24 or so as a guess.
So in February or March of 2008 there may only be 40 or less of these beauties that are still new.
THIS IS FUZZY MATH SO JUMP ON IN AND CORRECT ME WHERE YOU SEE FIT.
Jerry subtract the 2 new ones I have here.
gsxrdoug 12-03-2007, 05:56 PM So what's the point?
I believe the point he's making is supply and demand as they become used up, similar to what we've seen happen here with certain items. i.e. HD BB kits, CNC heads etc.
gsxrdoug 12-03-2007, 06:22 PM Got it!
rail240 12-03-2007, 07:25 PM Really I thought there were a lot more than 600 or so. Well that sucks :D
V-Rod I FL 12-04-2007, 12:35 AM So what's the point?
Pat is correct. The point I am making is that there MAY BE a significant market for the new ones when the rest of the world wakes up and realizes that there are no more. (Pat's supply and demand.)
So if you are on the fence regarding aquiring one especially new I wouldn't wait too long.
In my assessment the weak economy is working in your favor as it applies to dealers who are floor planning their equipment (paying Harley every month for a bike that hasn't sold)
It is also a given at least here in Florida that they will also have to pay an assessed tax on unsold inventory as of the end of each calender year as well.
Just sharing thoughts.

Well as we all know you are building a stable of V-Rods.
I won't tell your wife IF you'll give me one to keep mine company.
IT'S 83 DEGREES HERE IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA. Time for a ride.
Best Wishes

rail240 12-04-2007, 03:34 AM Thanks for the info, I am trying not to procrastinate too much :)
There does seem to still be quite a few available though both privately and through dealers so I have been shopping the pricing around.
Do you think used ones will still be worth something or not? THis is an option I am considering simply because of pricing. I have found one for 16k used with a bunch of parts to run a season apparently. Clutches etc...Way to go or not? Looks to be in good condition from pics etc..
I am going to come over and personally do some shopping around, I figure thats the best way to do it. And yes the economy is strong for us at the moment.
Thoughts? :D

Yea you should get on over here soon if you are going to finalize a deal on a new one.
As a suggestion you may want to schedule your trip around 2008 Daytona BIKE WEEK which is at the end of February-begining of March. That way you can see the Destroyers run at Gainesville and meet up with some of the people who have more than one Destroyer.

To funny Jerry, she has a pretty good idea as to what's been going on with my alleged, to her " collection ". Although she hasn't actually seem all of them.......
She has her side of the heated garage back, so all is well.
I wish we had some of that warm weather here, the forecast is for the coldest winter in 15 years and we're knee deep in it already.
I figure sooner or later someone will eventually come a calling for these Destroyers. Until then I'm not going to bed hungry sitting on them.
V-Rod I FL 12-06-2007, 12:43 AM Pat:
If the snow is that bad it sounds like it may be time for a ROAD TRIP!!!! Come on down and bring your toys!!! MJW lives down here too.
I got room in the garage--to keep the sun off of your toys.
BTW: Did my other email get to you it was kinda large??? Also did you get the one regarding the periodic maintenance chart I found??
We need to start a "Unfired Destroyer" Registry. I have been out in the garage looking at that Gold Key they gave me and wondering what to do with it. HA, HA

I checked the other day. There are more out there at dealerships than show up on the computer. I know of 10 destroyers right now at dealerships that will not show up on their locator. What happened they did not want to pay floor plan anymore on the bikes so they paid them off. So, now they do not show up on the locator anymore. All I am getting at here is that the number of destroyers out there that are not fired are more than you think. Plus there are 5 destroyers that I know about that have never been fired that collectors have. I know of 5 or 6 that are in dealerships that they do not want to sell that are wall ornaments that are also unfired bikes. So, with just the 20 - 25 I know about added to your estimated number means there is probable more like over 100 of them out there that are unfired.
The dealerships that I know that have them that are not on the computer keep trying to get me to buy another destroyer. One made me a great deal the other day. I am timpted to get another one.
V-Rod I FL 12-06-2007, 01:22 PM Thanks for getting back. We are just trying to put a fence around how many "unfired" ones really do exist--at this point.
ALSO, is there any way to confirm the actual number produced?? My source was good but it would be nice to know. Remember at first they were only making a few and then expended the production. So it would be nice to know the HD official supported number.
So you are thinking about 100 (+-) are "unfired" at this point in time.
I have 1
Pat aka Patm has 2
Jeff Hoover aka BadROD has 1
Also, do you agree that about 1/2 of the "unfired" will be pressed into racing this spring and thru the 2008 racing season?? If so, then it will leave 50(+-) that are unfired.
regards
rail240 12-07-2007, 11:08 AM vrodracing90. Can I ask, What do you call a great :deal:
I have found several all over the US for around 19-21k

Unless Jeff has 2 his has most definitely been fired up, just not raced in a sanctioned event.
V-Rod I FL 12-10-2007, 12:30 AM THANKS MARK.
I forgot he fired that one up. I don't believe he bought another one.
So......It's 99 bottles of beer on the wall......
vrodracing90 12-10-2007, 09:34 AM What I was told on production numbers was 630. It started at only 150 before the first day of the dealer show they had 300 on order. The second day they said that they would build 400 by the end of that day they had more than that orderd. Then they said that they would build as many as dealers orderd. I will check and see how many are still on the locator today and let you know.

Thanks!!!! We do need undisputed information.
vrodracing90 12-11-2007, 09:27 AM Thanks!!!! We do need undisputed information.Well here it is as of 12/11/07 on the dealer locator there are 141 Destroyers showing up on the computer. Now, I can add at least 20 - 25 if not more that I know are at dealerships and will not show up on the computer because the dealership paid them off. Now they do not show up being at the dealerships inventory plus to get them off of floor plan. So, watch out for people giving you false information. Now there are more that some collectors have that are new and still out there too. I have no way of finding them.
V-Rod I FL 12-11-2007, 01:21 PM So we are looking at:
Total Produced..............................630
LESS: Approximate In Use................440
"Unfired" Available as Of 12/11/07:
Dealers............140 (+-)
Private Owners...50 (+-).................190
