: Buying a Destroyer

I am in the process of buying a Destroyer from our local dealer who has three bikes in stock at the same price. Two of them are used and one new. One used one has the data computer and repainted frame and skins, the other used one is stock and the new one is a 0 miles bike. I am considering the used one with computer or the new one. These are Tripp Nobels race bikes. What would you do? I am having a hard time making up my mind. I need to make a decision before the end of the week. Any oppinions?

I'd buy the new one and keep my eyes open on the AHDRA site etc. for a used Race Pak. Just my 2 cents. Send me a PM when you get a minute. You can buy new for little more than used lately. While we were at the Rock there was a new one for $ 20,000.00 and according to the sign that price was negotiable.

I would buy the new one, I know the used one has some electronics on it, but I have never had any luck with used electronics. My rationale for the new one is, this is a race bike, you have no idea what it has been through. With a new one you will know the exact history, maintenance, etc.

Like all other opinions everybodies got one.

Good luck!

Oh if you don't mind shake Ray's hand for me when you see him.

I thought you might want to PM to discuss prices and keep them private, you didn't and hey that's fine.

I recently helped a guy here, Canada, find and buy a used one ( with about 50 passes on it, from California ) with a Race Pak, which is about $ 3200.00 and spare back wheel and slick for $ 17,000.00 US. Perhaps this can be of some help with your decision or negotiations.

Good luck.

The three bikes should be Tripp Nobles 06 bike that blew one engine during the season but has a new engine in it. VT race girls bike which also ran a full AHDRA season and then one new bike. They also have or had one in a crate they planned to keep. If you need a garage to store it in let me know. :)

3 Buells.
I pick up the new Destroyer a week from Saturday. The dealership is going to deliver it because I sold my trailer two years ago. But I might get a good deal on the trailer that Tripp was using, the dealer is only using it to pick up broken bikes now.

I've had a totaly different experiance with LVHD, when I picked up my Destroyer I was given an additional $2000 discount, and an offer to buy their race trailer at a reduced price. I do deal with Nick and not Don, if that makes any difference.

Neither one, I got a new bike they had at their Zion store cheaper than one of their used bikes. I won't be racing for a while yet too many things to replace after I quit racing Kawasaki a few years ago(15). Big Rich of Vreelands HD, Anybody at Eagle HD or PatM. Are all members and all would be very helpful with getting you running fast. Also asks them questions about getting the transmission taken care of.
You may want to come race with us in the SEMDRA series. Its not to far for ya. Check out the 2008 schedule. All races are at the South Georgia motorsports park. Good luck and be safe.

Head on over to the " Search " section of the forum on the home page here. Type in Destroyer and pull up a chair.

Among other useful information you'll see that a few members have had transmision upgrades done, i.e. chryogenics etc. ( a process that allows the transmision gears to mesh faster ) to the stock transmission by a place in FL called R & D Motorsports. You can also go and check the Vance & Hines site on the home page for a information on a stronger transmssion shaft and a different gearing for 2nd gear, less of a gap between 1st and second. R & D would be the one stop shop for a trick, reliable transmission if you plan on being competitive. Tel:727-447-4552.

Joining the AHDRA and obtaining a copy of their rule book would help as well with information. BTW, their authorized fuel is VP U4 for competition.

Good luck with your new Destroyer.

Did you get a good look at the Tripp Nobles bike with the data logger? I have been speaking to RJ and he is offering me this bike but I was curious on the condition and history (if you know any) replacement motors or similar...

What did you think of it?

How far is Las Vegas to LA just out of curiosity? Got to work out shipping etc...

Yes this is the bike with the repaint, or rather primer on everything. I understand the engine has been replaced, and the whole bike looks a little rough around the edges. It is still for sale as of yesterday. Vegas to L.A. is about 250 miles. I was considering it but decided on one of the new ones.
