: Corbin seat and Fairing
The ThirdAM 09-28-2007, 05:26 PM I rode my 98 FLTR out to Oregon where it eat it's transmission. I traded the broken Road Glide in on a new 07 VRSCAW. When I was in Sturgis, I ordered a seat and fairing from the guys at the Corbin display. Both are new (from the Corbin stand point) items for the 07 VRSCAW. I'm back in SC now and I just got the pieces installed yesterday - here are some pix (Looks like a couple are not so great - sorry).

Daniii 09-28-2007, 08:30 PM Let us know how it is at speed. It looks better than I thought it would.
The ThirdAM 09-28-2007, 10:09 PM Might be able to run it over to Myrtle Beach next weekend for a speed check along the way - haven't been past 60 (or so) yet but it seems to be as solid as it always was. Might be a little heavy in cornors at lower speeds where you actually have to move the bars. Does seem to be helping with the wind that comes up from under when the touring windshield is fitted. I use a 3/4 helmet with a face shield, so don't know much about where the wind over to top is hitting yet, no buffeting though.
DPierce02 09-29-2007, 08:52 PM nice looking bike. like Daniii said let us know how it performs.
also curious how you like the Corbin seats?
V-Fred 09-30-2007, 01:25 AM Congratulations, you are the first to get one. Let us know how it works. Is that the one they send you if you tell them the bike is vivid black, or did you specify a silver/black combo?
synseer 10-01-2007, 09:48 AM Looks nice and comfy!

knightenforcer 10-01-2007, 06:40 PM :thumb: Looks good, I'm thinking of getting one, my friends and I ussually ride year round. I could use one for the colder weather ahead. How long did it take from the time u ordered and time delivered?
The ThirdAM 10-04-2007, 09:46 PM V-Fred - I order the fairing and seat in person from the factory rep in Sturgis. We talked about what colors and design I wanted and I selected the silver and black combo on both the seat and fairing. They have a wide varity of leathers for the seat and most any color paint for the fairing.
Knightenforcer - I ordered both the fairing and seat in Sturgis and they were delivered toward the middle of September - at my request the seat come about two weeks before the fairing.
Performance - The windshield sits far enough back that the center of pressure against it is behind the stearing pin so there isn't much wind input into the bars. I use a 3/4 helmet with a face shield but as near as I can tell the wind bubble is over the top of my head with no buffeting. I've used a Corbin seat for thousands of miles - 60,000 on FLTR - and think they are great. This one feels the same, but like all Corbin seats, they need to be 'broken in' for about 500 miles or so before they really fit - this one feels right already. BTW-It's hard to beat the combination of a fairing, windshield, full helemt and face shield in the rain.
knightenforcer 10-05-2007, 06:25 PM Thanks for the reply, Good Luck with it, seems like a nice set-up.:)
Mr. D 11-06-2007, 03:01 PM Nice looking setup:)
Is it easily detached to change back to your windshield?
Laters Kelly
The ThirdAM 11-07-2007, 12:03 PM The fairing is fixed in place and not designed to be dismounted. The supports attach to the upper and lower triple trees with the fairing attached at four points - two on each support.
mjw930 11-07-2007, 09:06 PM You may find that you'll need to add lowers to counter the rush of air coming in under the fairing but aside from that it looks surprisingly good. Enjoy!
The ThirdAM 11-08-2007, 07:52 AM Wind under the Corbin fairing is actually much less than it was using the HD Quick-Release Detachable Ultimate Touring windshield (matching bags are on order to replace the HD nylon bags). All-in-all I'm very happy I got it, but then I understand that the style isn't to everyone's taste.
Daniii 11-08-2007, 09:39 AM I gotta say, considering its from Corbin, it looks pretty good. (Of course, compared to their platypus thingy, everything looks great).
The ThirdAM 11-08-2007, 11:11 AM Yea - who knows what they were thinking on that. When I talked to Mike Corbin in Daytona I should have asked, but usually just try to not think about it.
Dancing Dogs 11-17-2007, 09:40 PM I would be interested in buying your old bags if you replace them and want to sell them. I was just looking at them today for my new 06 R.
vee rod 03 11-17-2007, 10:43 PM Let us know how it is at speed. It looks better than I thought it would.
I agree, let us know how you like it.
mjw930 11-18-2007, 09:57 PM Damn, I keep coming back to this but until they make it quick release or I decide to engineer a quick release I can't bring myself to do it. I like the naked lines and the feel of riding without a windscreen too much. It would just be nice to have for those long rides.
I bought the Ultimate Touring windshield and it works better than ANY other I've had on the bike (and I've had EVERY windshield made for the V-Rod) but it's far from perfect and I'm still not liking the look.......
Daniii 11-19-2007, 06:49 AM The KD batwing comes off in 5 seconds (literally). After a little instability at 115 chasing a bud down to the hill country a week ago, I've increased the angle of the fairing, and tightened the neck. Next time I hit 120, I'll report.
