Last night I finaly got to hit this 1/8mi.

http://www.northeastdragway.com/

This was my first time ever on a drag strip.

Paid $20.00 and made 7 runs (rev limiter x2) (red lightx1)

My best RT .573 but hit limiter

Add shift light and quick shifter or pangle to wish list.

My brother is in town and says he can upload some video
when he gets home next week.

The first run was a BIG RUSH! The track is SO sicky my boots were sticking at the start line.

But here are a couple slips vs. the Japs...I go 6-1 240lbs

Add shift light to wish list.

I'm with you on that shift light... either I can't stay focussed on that small tach, or it doesn't keep up with the motor's true revs??? either way, I'm sick of the embarrasment and loss of momentum from hittin that rev limit... do a search on "Shift light" and you'll see a forum member posted the exact unit we want!

Keep on enjoyin that race track!

Check out the Harlan shiftlight on the Turbohawk website. I think they cost about $50. I had mine on my Vmax for 2 yrs. before putting it on my Vrod and it's always worked perfect. No extra pills to buy and easy to install. I connected the tach hookup wire too the Blue/orange wire from the coil on my 03 and it works great. Tell them you want it for a motorcycle and get the waterproof one with longer wires.

Votrod - Great to see you out there at the track - I just love racing the VRod - it is a great ET bracket bike. Do you have a 28 tooth sprocket - based upon your 60' I would guess that you do but if not that is the first thing you will need. I tried racing without a shift light for awhile and it did not work for me at all - that little tach is beyond my field of vision at least under hard acceleration. I just mounted a 66 tooth chain with a 22 front - It really made the bike extremely consistent - I red lit first round last night .484. third time this year for first round red light. Had 5 rounds in a row with best light in the field with 1- .503 and 2-.504 - then the words from the Bible came into play - those who live by the sword die by the sword. I am trying to work out my setup for next week - big bike event in Pittsburgh $1000 for first - bike show etc. - I am hoping some VRods out there make it to the race so that there is some support on and off the track. I use a Dyna setup for the shift light by the way.... KSP

The bike pits are great!

The guys and gals are really cool giving tips, showing me the ropes,
helping work on others bikes.

I got beat by .077 in 1st round but you are given ONE chance to buy back in if you loose in 1st or 2ed round $10
so I bought back in for second round and frickin red lighted.

so i spent $30 bucks and had a great time there were about 15 bikes no v-rods they said one comes every now and then, but its $100 for the winner and $50 for runnerup.

That is where it happened - on the tree - if you are interested I can go over my light procedure - I seldom am out of the 5xx range - you are right - the pits are typically great - humbe group racers are - no trash talk or braggin there as drag racing is a humbling experieince - 15 start out with aspirations to win - 14 do not - all the talk stops if you have done it a few times....... I have seen the best lose to the worst...Great fun and a fun way to go fast..KSP

Had great luck last night out of 15 bikes I made it to the final 5!!!

sent 3 bikes to there trailers and 2 I beat had to pay $10 buy back!!

But I see how the SAND BAGING is now this kaw dials a 6.70 to my 7.91
and as we get to the finish line i can see him braking (front shocks) and he wins by .03

But me and my boy jake (11) had great fun killin rice!

practice , practice , practice ,,,, but a shift light will slow you down overall ,, concentrate on the "feel" and you'll be quicker/more consistant

Personally, I disagree with Jack's statement on shiftlight - it will add to your consistency. Lower gearing will also. If you run tight lights and very consisent runs then sandaggin won't work as you run them under - I have a simple set up with a bolt in the handle bar the restricts how far you can pull the clutch in that really helps launch consistency as well as power shifting speed - $2.00 bolt. Tell me if you are interested.
