: Has anyone bought the new H-D "chrome dog's-ass cover"?
DrHeathenScum 11-12-2003, 03:01 AM just curious what the thing looks like in person.

Shawn Nelson 11-12-2003, 06:01 AM i almost bought one while in little rock, but decided against it, it looked cheap.
mjw930 11-12-2003, 09:22 AM I used a chrome "back off" frame with one LED light bar mounted on the bottom. I had to modify the lower edge of the license plate (read, cut off) to allow the wires room without crushing or cutting them but the frame covers the plate mods. I don't have a picture handy but it helps cover up the massive black area that used to surround the license. A little trimming and the black should dissapear behind the frame / plate. Cost ~$45 with the chrome screw kit and about 30 minutes to mount and wire.
Michael333 11-12-2003, 09:54 AM Joe, I saw it at the dealership the other day. One othe reasons I bought your Stage 2 was to minimize the ass end of the motorcycle. I think HD's bracket is billboard huge. I didn't like it.
mdrsteve 11-12-2003, 01:44 PM I bought it from Hale's. It looks okay - better than my dog's ass looked without it, but the quality could definitely be better!:broke
VA V-Rod 11-12-2003, 02:17 PM I haven't seen one but I would suspect it would look better on a silver bike not a black one. I think in the picture it stands out way too much.

V-Fred 11-13-2003, 01:06 PM IMHO on a black bike it looks worse. On a silver bike it may work. Now if they sold a complete replacement in chrome that includes chrome turn signals, that would be an improvement (for those of us that want to keep the bag mounts and turn signals).
rocko2 11-14-2004, 06:30 PM V-Fred, Ozzy Customs (OzzyCustoms.com) does have the chrome equivalent of the stock black unit. I'm considering it. I've got a 'B' with chrome bodywork and I think it may be the way to go. I'll post pic if I go that way.
curlysir 11-14-2004, 09:08 PM I Have one. I like it much better then the stock black. Have had no problems with it.
Daniii 11-14-2004, 09:23 PM I have one. With the anodized and the FPOS bags, I think it looks good. Of course, I think the RKTour Pak looks good too, and that is not a universal opinion.
hunter101_1998 11-14-2004, 09:36 PM my 04 had it on when I bought it, was a dealer installed option, I like it. My rod is smokey gold and black. next chrome tail lights!
HOG DR 11-14-2004, 10:02 PM I have one then put a frame on it...Call it my "BIG ASS MUD FLAP"...but "I" like it....
V-ROD23 11-14-2004, 10:26 PM I got one fron Strykgold when i bought his stock dogs ass- which I modified- got rid off the side reflectors. Anyways, it's nice how it fits over the stock black plate holder, but I did not like how the bottom end hangs down- covers the tire more- so I did not install it.
kspz3 11-14-2004, 10:43 PM Here is one on mine.
KSP
kspz3 11-14-2004, 11:04 PM From the backend
kspz3 11-14-2004, 11:09 PM I think that it looks OK but not stunning or anything like that - also if slammed then clearance is close... I shimmed mine about 1/4 inch to prevent it from rurubbing tire.Kevin
rance 11-15-2004, 01:02 AM i made mine out of stainless .remove blinker and reflector use a thin piece of cardbroad place it up next to the black crap and out line it.draw pattern on stainless or aluminum not to thin i used a cut off wheel air grinder.cut it out and cleaned the edge's next hold it in place mark three hole's for blinker and one hole to hold the front down then use a small buffer wheel and polish to get the chrome finish and i used the v-rod license plate rear cover at your local dealer. :thumb:i'll get a better pic tomorrow.very easy to make.
