Anybody have any good pix of the Apus mirrors on a V-ROD?

AKvrod,

No pictures yet. I've been wanting to put them on my bike since I first saw them. It's in the shop now being fixed from my accident but those mirrors will be the first new addition. BUT....I spoke to Scott at Eurocomponents and he told me that when they started carrying them he sold a set to a VROD owner who had to return them. Scott said the guy was unable to mount the R/S mirror due to clearance problems!!?? Not quite sure what the problem was. Most like has to do with the sqaure base on the mirrors. Anyway, Scott has not tested this to validate the info from this owner AND he's been advising VROD owners that they don't fit so I doubt you'll get any answers to your question. I posted a similiar question on the VTwin forum with no response. I'm going to order the mirrors and see exactly what the problem is. If it's the need for an adapter I think I've found one in Drag Specialities. So.... I'll keep ya posted on what I figure out. It will probably be early Dec though, before I get it done.

Thx for the info Zeeman. Have you seen any other good looking mirrors? I would like something tapered like the Apus mirrors. I was looking at the Alen Ness Alternatives, I think it was called a "Rad II". Seen a few on ebay, but nobody has pics of them on a bike, let alone on a VROD. The search continues.....

I know they aren't "rad" but they look very good on the V-Rod and they are one of the few that are available with convex glass. Without convex glass your field of view is seriously limited. They also are very well built and show less vibration than the stock mirrors.

The Ness mirrors are a close second for me. May have to go with them if I can't figure out the Apus fix. I'd love to "cut and paste" the stem and mirror Ness and Apus... that'd fix the problem!;)

Just got feedback on the Apus mirrors, they don't fit without modifications to either their base of the brake reservoir. Same thing for the Apollo mirrors.

Back to the catalog search then..........

ErVikingo,
Just caught back up with this thread. I really want those Apus mirrors. How did your search go? Find any ideas to make modifications for the Apus? I know it can be done...just have to figure it out and spend the $$.

The Apus have landed. Now if I only had the VRod back from the dealer I could try them on...... Will post ASAP on fitment.

Bike promised back in 1 day, been there 3 days already... 1K service, SE upload, install turnsignals, tender, passing lights, braided coolant line plus other goodies. Pics to come!

There is a thread in here called"best looking mirrors for v rod" and a set of, I think, Apoolo's in that thread really do it for me. Kinda dear though....

The Apollo nd the Apus are both made by the same mfg. (Rebuffini in Italy). They confirmed that at least the Apus will fit.

If you ask the distributor they'll tell you they don't fit apparently based on feedback from one customer. I decided to try them. If they won't fit without an adapter then I'll get an adapter

Just HAVE TO HAVE THEM!

I have the Apollo mirrors on order. Expect them to arrive sometime next week. I was told that they fit the V-Rod without any modifications. Here is a copy of the response to my initial enquiry;

Thank you for your interest in Eurocomponents' products.
Yes, the Apollo mirrors will fit your v-rod with no problem.
No, you do not need anything extra.
Yes, we ship to Canada.
Please let us know if we can be of further help.

Hey Darrell,

That's funny, Lorenzo told me they did not fit. I contactd the mfg directly who told me they all would fit and have regretfully found out that (at least for the Apus) you'll ned an adapter. Small problem, big results!

Post pics when you install them

Hey Bob,

That's what the forum is all about. Thanks for your kind words!!! I uploaded some more pics of the bike on the gallery, you see the mirrors better there!

Happy rod'ing!

Looks great! And I second Bob's comments! That's just the look I want. I can't really tell from the pics but does that adapter off-set the mirror a bit? Is it chrome? I'll be placing my order next week and would like to know. Thanks again for taking the lead on this.

The mirrors look great. From what I can see the base is larger than the base on the Apollo's and is square vs. round, which probably accounts for the need for the spacer on one & not the other. Hope to get my camera back from repair today so I can post the pic's of the Apollo's for you, otherwise it will be another week (I will be beaching it in Costa Rica).

Zeeman,

The adapter is not visible, what it does is replace the pivot pin on the levers for a tube. The mirror bolt goes thru it. FYI, put some lubricant on the outside of the tube (some lithium type would work good). I didn't and the clutch lever does not return all the way yet (I guess that with use it will work ok).

BTW, the catalog s list this part as fiting 96-011 models. Mine is an 04 and it worked perfectly.

Looks great. ;) How do they work? Did you loose alot of rear visability or do they shake alot?

Love the look, might get some. :sinister:

Hey Dan,

I ordered them from Totally Wayno (wayno@totallywayno.com) tell him I sent you (no deal for me but at least he'll remember us next time around).

Todd,

They work great, visibility is great (at least for me). Nothing compares to the stock "periscopes" but these work just great. They do not vibrate at all. I'll take some pics from my riding position and post them on the gallery later. I'll post here when I've done it.

Hope this helps, Juan

Juan,
just heard about this site from Dan. Wanted to drop in and check it out. Nice to see the mirrors worked out for you. I wrote down the info on the Joker Mach. adaptor for future referrence. There seems to be a lot of confusion on what fits and what does not fit the V-Rod as of yet. A lot of trial and error. Also, alot of conflicting information coming in from suppliers. I hope to get to the bottom of this. If I do, I will post it here for you guys. I appreciate the good words too.

Hey Wayno,

How you like the pics of my bike. Mirrors look great ah!!!!!

I recommended you since you delivered as promised and were a class act following up on my order. Glad I could share my good experience with my fellow owners.

Keep it up. Take care, Juan

Juan,
with all the confusion Dan and I had with these mirrors, I called and talked with Euro. again to get some damn answers. Nick at Eurocomponents apologized for the confusion. The names are to close to the same I guess, but he says he got them confussed. Bottom line is:

1. The "APUS" mirrors fit the right side but need an adapter (Joker Machine)
for the left just as you found out, because of the square base. Thanks
for the research by the way.

2. The "3-D APOLLO" mirrors DO fit, with no adaptors. However, due to the
process of making these smooth 3-D, they are twice as expensive.

I read on here somewhere that someone had a problem with Eurocomponents before. That's unfortionate, because these guys are top notch when it comes to customer service. They have always gone out of their way to help us. Including going through the trouble of drop shipping orders all over the country for us to save the customer some shipping cost. They are one of the last suppliers we have that will do this for us. You do have to remember one thing. They import parts and because of that, you might have to wait 2 weeks for the next shippment to come in if they are out of stock.

Oh yea, the mirrors look great! Now lets get some meat under that ass!
