: What does HD need to do to make the perfect V-rod bag?

What is the necessity/wish list for the perfect V-rod saddle bag?

Here is my input:
Figure out a way to make them larger than what is currently available through HD, oh, and of course, good looking :)
Waterproof or minimal notably water-resistant
Leather
Removable
Some degree of security
(I'd ask for fringe but don't like getting shot.)

i would love better options in bags... i like to be able to go and not have to minimize or worry about weather....
bigger is a must.... and i would like to see a road king style bag made just for this bike that i didn't have to mod..

best bag for a v-rod has a tag where you can put postage or UPS barcode to send yur laundry home.
Actually maybe UPS could offer a new service, V-rod bags available at select depots, drop off a bag full a dirty laundry & souvenirs, pick-up an empty bag for the next leg a yur trip.

I think the hard bags I sport around are plenty big enough to carry some tools, clothes, and a six-pack of longnecks without being too big. Oh yeah, they lock too but they are not portable. I guess they would silly if they were especially if they were fringed.

I would like a hard bag to be removable with minimum hardware remaining as well as being large enough to be functional. The Buell bags look to be very good but don't look too good on the bike. No matter what they were to bring out,if they aren't detachable, I don't want em

Best thing they can do is make a REVO bagger so we can keep those ugly things of the Vrod. :D

I know that sort of mount just does it for some folks, and it looks like it should, but it just doesn't fit the bill for me.

I'm all for bags. They can be very useful.... Just not of a VR.

I have the HD hards and love them, I use the Biker's Friend LG when traveling.... But I'm thinking about the Axio

So far, the second generation FPOS leather bags are holding up. The tops haven't shrunk (but I try to keep em out of direct sunlight, no problem so far this summer) and the emblems haven't busted loose (yet). They have always been waterproof.

I'd like to see them (or someone else) take the Axio bag idea (or something like it) and replace the passenger pillion with it to add room... Sort of a smuggler type option, rather than having a passenger seat.

Corbin has done this for the R's but not for my bike. :(

Now Brentley that is a wonderful idea! It is like a little glove box! My treo and gloves would be happy. My gloves will be even happier in there when I get an iPhone.

Yep... Might as well just put a fairiong & a radio in it while you're at it. :D Not mocking anyone for how they mod their bikes. I just think the Vrod has such smooth lines and to put all of that STUFF on it just kills the looks. Now let the MOCO release a touring chassis with the REVO motor in it and I'll be all over it as a second bike, but the Vrod should be kept as a good looking power cruiser. I don't even like the look with toruing seats (of which I have one on my bike), but you have to make compromises somewhere.

Now, back to the original intent of this thread.
Take a look at the 105th Anniversary V. It is all to easy to visualize sporting a well designed leather set of black, chrome and bronze bags!

Someone on hear a year or so ago posted a bag they had made that covered the passenger seat (or maybe replaced it) that looked slightly bigger than a ?????? ( what do you call those hip bag thingies???)

Anyway, I can't find the thread now, but I really wish I could find that person and ask how it has held up and whether or not they'd make one for me... :)

Going back to that picture I cannot help but think that it could be made with a cover finished in the same material as the rider's seat. I know I would like that look better on my ride. No-one ever gets to ride the back so there is no risk or damaging it by mistakenly taking a seat.

I've found Boss Bags to be the ticket. They're made of leather, reinforced so as not to sag and go on/off in seconds! When they're off, all you see is a small stud...none of the scafolding that the HD bags require. The company sizes their bags in terms of the number of pop/beer cans they'll hold. I believe that the Vrod bags hold 21 each.

I attached photos to my reply to "Looking for cheaper . . . " thread.

Found 'em
http://www.motodepot.com/product_detail.php?cid=1089&sku=646

I use the small cortech bags that are inside plastic lined... I cut off all the stuff save the buckles and for the other side I swiped from my daughter some of those ponytail ties, black, elastic and strong... I put 4 on each of the buckle ends connect, and just pop them over the rear tail lights and shock mounts and snap the bags in place...

They ride high, and I've got the gold and black ride with a leather airbox trim, with tiny rack... I can take them off or put them on in seconds, and I can slip my polo helmet right into one and it vanishes... I can enjoy the spartan look and feel of the dragbike inspire thing and still have everything I need, when I need it... I also have a nice leather backpack I use to lug the computer, but I use those bags when it might storm, or about 25% of the time and enjoy the heck out of 'em...

If you have a moment, read my post on Wind not Wobble. I can't help but have the feeling that she actually handled better without the windshield???????? Less drag?????
