I think a lot of people are using those bags and have asked for pics in the past to no avail. Those are the ones I have decided to go with but wish I could see them on the bike prior to purchase. I am with you.

Yes! Thank you for posting the picture, they look really clean on the bike. How are you keeping them out of the wheels and where do you tie them down? Thanks again,
Kristi

hi Kristi
first off, the saddlebags are multifit meaning that the middle straps are fairly adjustable e.g. i have the '07 DX wide fender
the trick is to adjust these straps in such a way that the bags are positioned as high as possible, that way there can never be any risk of touching the rear wheel + they're out of reach of hot exhausts
further, each bag has a forward and aft strap (quick releases) so with a bit of creativity you'll find a good spot to fix the 'fixed' ends of those straps
the big bonus of these bags = they come with a (detachable) neoprene padding so the risk of damaging paintwork is minimal or non-existing
another big bonus = you can choose from 3 types of top bags that just click onto the saddlebags with 4 quick release buckles, takes you 10 seconds to take that top bag off the bike; all bags come with rain covers BUT i learned that you'll never be able to seal the saddlebags off completely (the diff straps must pass somewhere) so always pack your stuff in individuel plastic bags before putting them in the saddlebags/top bag, no probs
hope this helps ? see my gallery for more pics
one tip : always carry some spare straps/plastic straps, you never now...
ps : i bought mine from Motorcyclegiant in Calif

I'm in. Thanks for the pix Roadhog. You guys convinced me. Heading down the road this week-end with my wife on the back and a touring case on my luggage rack. I need all the luggage I can get without having to put on saddlebag mounting hardware. Anxious to see if it works with my Sundowner, passenger pillion, fender base plate etc.

just make sure to always use the neoprene pads, be creative, fold them if you need to but those are your paint protection insurance, without them you won't be a happy camper...
another tip : whenever you take the saddlebags off the bike, always check & dust off the neoprene pads before putting them back on, even a bit of sand could cause scuffs

Must be a hot item. Got a call back 15 minutes after placing my order which was confirmed in stock and was going to ship the same day. They're out. Went to another site which said they were out as well. Left my order in to ship mid-August. Maybe I'll have it for the KC Rally.

That's where I tried my second option, same cost. Web-site said they were either temporarily out or discontinued.

Is it possible to ride 2 up with these bags? Looking for a set up like this that would work with the 240 tire out back.

i am sure it would be fine if you had a luggage rack back there or you can throw them over the back of the seat and leave the tail bag off. but i am unsure how that would feel on your passengers ass..

i have no idea.. i never ride two up .. so i cant tell you for sure

Those look great!
I use a set of "Redman"s on my 'AW from a previous bike. They are throw overs with straps looped around the turn signals and snapped to the frame just behind the gas tank. I've had my son, then the better half out for short two-up rides, neither one complained.........maybe that's cuz I couldn't hear'm due to lovely wind and exhaust noise.

Just got my Cortech saddle bags in yesterday. I'm trying to figure the best place to use the forward and aft straps. What seemed to work best was to put the loops around the shocks for the front and run the connector straps under the seat to the other side. For the back I put the loops on the turn signals and put the connector straps under the rear edge of the fender on top of the license plate bracket. They were very tight but I am not certain that is correct. How are you applying your strapping?

if you enlarge my pic above you will see i used the front aroudn the frame and the back around the TS

Much easier. I will give it a try. I looked at your picture earlier but couldn't tell how the back was done. Thanks 3Olive.

you are welcome.. i guess that back isnt real visible since the dogs ass is black and the straps are black ..

Els and I installed chrome saddle bag brackets (made by MC Enterprises) on our bikes. They look great on the VRod and make it a snap to install or remove the Cortech bags. They also prevent scuffing of the paint on the rear fender.

That's a good option as well. Except that I am trying to avoid permanent bracket installation, that's why I got the Cortech bags. As it turns out I can't use the frame for the front loops either since I have the 5 gal. tank and it totally fills the frame. Looks like I will have to continue playing with it.

Nelson Rigg sells hose bags for $129, Dennis Kirk sells the same bags for $113. I'm ordering a set early next week.

I like the idea of mounting/zipping/clipping in the center section. My issue is my dawgs ass is gone. I would be one of the few to purchase a new dawgs ass.

I have the same Cortech bags and went with these chrome brackets to support them. They are made by made by MC Enterprises and are designed specifically for the V-Rod. IMHO they look much better than the HD brackets, are a lot cheaper, and do not detract from the look of the bike when the bags are not mounted. Also, they are very easy to install with two bolts to the bracket mounting points on each side of the rear fender.

Roadhog.. Thanks for the info here. Been grappling with ways to make the bike tour-able but not wreck its looks, your solution is a good one.
Hope you don't mind me asking - with hindsight, whats the best way to attach the saddlebags? I still have the stock indicators ('turn signals). Also what GPS and mount are u using? Regards

no problems :
- saddlebags front side: i removed to the 2 nuts that hold down the plastic pillion base and slid the 'fixed' parts of the straps under there; they just stay there under the saddle when not in use
- saddlebags rear side ; yes you can use the rear stock turn signal stems but since i've removed the stockers i had to be a bit creative by using the inner fender
as an extra precaution i use zip ties to fix the front cross-over band to the pillion grab strap, also to relieve the saddlebag's front quick release buckles a bit (always carry some spare zip ties, just like duct tape they could be a life saver when stranded somewhere...)
- GPS : Garmin ZUMO 550 with the mount that comes with the kit but i fixed the mount directly to the left hand controls (those longer screws are also in the kit); i'm very satisfied with the Zumo plus there's a very active Zumo-forum with tons of usefull tips & info : http://www.zumoforums.com/
when you need more info don't hesitate asking
