Kuryakyn, SAC, Bikers Friend... horizontal roll type bags work fine on the sissy bar/luggage rack. NONE of the sissybar bags can be supported by the bar alone because it's too short. All of them have additional straps to go around the shocks or turn signals for support. I strongly suggest mounting any of the vertical bags on the passenger pillion and not on the luggage rack for safety reasons.

Use a horizontal bag on the luggage rack. The vertical bags aren't nearly as stable.

I've got the HD SAC bag that I use without the sissy bar. It goes right over the luggage rack and I use two bungie cords to secure it to the shocks. It's very secure when you use it in conjunction with the sissy bar.
