Hey guys I thought some of you might like this, After much thought and research online, I decided to order this tail bag by axio, it has the carbon fiber black hard top, with the aerodynamic look:D ( I know a lot of the v rodders out there dont like the look of the saddlebags or bags in general, but this is something worth looking into) It has a lot of space(surprisingly) inside, and being that it's got a neoprene type backing underneath and on the sides, it wont mar your paint, and the velcro straps will make it easy to attach/ detach. Best of all it becomes like a single sling knapsack to take it along with you. I was able to fit a small first aid kit, goggles, slime compact air compressor, small can of emrgency tire innflator, tire plugger kit,a small hand pump, emergency fuses, flashlight etc...

Here's some pics:

Looks cool, where did you pick it up at? I know they make a tank bag that matches as well that I was looking at, but was not sure if it had straps to attach.

$99 bucks plus shipping from ebay, worth the wait and money spent, also do a google search online, it has some great reviews too. I did take the small sissy bar off, and I think it would also work without a luggage rack.

I like it... I wonder how it would look if you remove the rear seat and set it on the fender...

This one was made specifically as a tail bag with diff colors to choose from. A few vendors online sells them but I got mine on ebay.

The good thing about the velcro mounting straps, is that you can move it
back if needed for a passenger, or forward more so you can utilise the backrest for the rider. I'm sure it'll mount the same way when the passenger pillion is removed.:)

WOW Thanks for sharing! I really like that and the price is pretty good! Actually now that I see that I don't want 'bags' at all! I had been looking for trips and such.

Glad I could share this w/ you guys :) I dont think the luggage rack would be required, unless you're planning on having a passenger, if you have the rack then you have room to push the bag towards the end of the rack and re-mount the velcro straps to accomodate your passsenger. BTW, the quality is A+, it's well made and worth it imho.

I would change that to "It's nice because it's plain" No big stupid bloated thing hanging.... (oh wait I forgot what section I am in). Anyways not obtrussive and doesn't take away too much of the look. (and come off in a snap I imagine). Glad to see someone out there is thinking style and function finally.

Took it for a 40 mile ride and it seems to stay in place and holds it shape pretty well.

I'm assuming the rear velcro strap would go underneath the fender, or you could prob use the little D rings to bungie wrap/loop it around the rear turn signals?,( using small bungie cords-optional) there are 4 small D rings total, 2 in front and 2 in the rear.

Does the sissy bar have to come off?

I wonder if the sissy bar was left on, if it would work for the rear velcro strap to actually go under the pass. seat. but then, the bag might be too far forward and you wouldnt be able to put gas in it right?

I like this thing, but I wonder if it would look weird with how far forward I lean when riding...hmm...

Knightenforcer, can you get straight on side profile shot for me, please? Also, do you know what the dimensions are?

Night, does this pic help? This was a side pic taken yesterday, anyway I mounted it in a way that it would'nt interfere when I open/ close the seat to access the fuel cap. But This thing is so easy to get on and off, because of the velcro straps that If ever you have to go 2 up, just attach the sling and let your passenger carry it while you give her/ him a ride(they can wear it like a knapsack) or push it all the way back as far as it could go on the luggage rack and use small bungees attach it to the d rings and loop it around the rear turn signal( It did'nt come with the bungees, but you could use something similar to the one's used by the biker's friend bag):)

Yes, also it'll be too far forward that it'll extend beyond your seating area.

Thanks Knight, that's perfect. I think I will get this eventually, but I just can't justify it right now. I'm happy that there's something like this out there though. Thanks for letting us know!

Hey guys, just a quick update...riding 2-up with the axio tailbag is definitely feasible...see pics. I also included pics of how the velcro straps were mounted (using the one piece luggage rack for the rear and the grab straps and shock mounts for the front).

That damn near looks like it was made for the bike.

Since I don't have a baseplate or a luggage rack, and I'm not sure I'm going to put them on, I'm curious if it can mount on the pillion with the rear strap slung underneath the tail of the pillion.

I really don't think hooking it to the rear signals will look right, but if it will loop under the pillion it could make for a pretty clean look without a luggage rack.

Think it would work?

knightenforcer

It would work, if you're riding solo. As you can see from the pics, the luggage rack makes it possile to ride 2 up with it on the bike,by moving it towards the rear of the rack. Also doubles as a backrest too -for your passenger.
