hey anybody--
is there a way to convert from a .mov file to one that can be posted??
my still digital takes movies, but makes them in .mov files.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do a search for and download "windows media encoder" It is from microsoft and free and it will convert most types of movies and convert them to the wmv format or it can capture directly from most cameras or other devices that you use on your pc.

hey max, I downloaded this and installed it, and tried to convert .mov file, but it said it is missing the codec for it, I download an SDK for it with updated codecs , but still the same result. is this the program you use?? if so, what am I missing??? I have some cool and revealing videos I'd like to post for everyone.......
I use linux and it won't work with linux but I do play with it a little bit at work. If it won't convert the .mov file you have two options. If you can load them back on the camera and then capture them direct with the encoder using either firewire or usb or any other forum of connection you have to the camera or you can try www.mpegx.com and see if they have a convertor just for mov files. I only use mpg or wmv since many of the others simply are not supported easily in linux. I use mplayer to do all of my movies.
