Hello: I just finished transforming my '03 Vrod into a unique masterpiece (in my eyes at least). In the process I lowered my rear end 1.5 inches with air shocks, and left the stock settings on the front forks. Other then that, it is perfect. I have been told that I can lower the sliders and be done with it; on the other hand, my dealer tells me - after showing me that my custom wheel is indeed in balance that I have to find someone to install a front end lowering kit - and that they will not do it due to the fact that HD does not make a kit for it. Any pointers? Thanks: Fletch2891@aol.com

Start working out now, it's a pain. Actually the lowering kit I heard is easier than the stock stuff. Take off brakes, fender, and loosen pinch clamps. Slide forks out. Remove upper shock cover with the correct size wrench, I didn't have it, I used a monkey wrench. Be very careful, there is a lot of tension on the caps. Loosen, and then put a rag over the top and hand loosen while pressing down. It will launch on you if you let it. Dump out the oil and replace it with new crap the dealer rips you off on. Heres where the gym comes in handy. Press down with all your might to put the top back on. Easiest way, is hold the cap and twist the fork. Reassemble.

Thanks VRODRICK. Very nice; now the question is...if I do it, will my pegs scrape around every corner?

Depends on how hard you ride! I haven't lowered anything on mine & scrap fairly frequently :bash:

I ground off part of my lower V-Modded pipe doing a corner on my stock height 'Rod. I've hit the pegs so often, it's not a novelty anymore, so I'm sure you'll be kicking up some sparks!

Well if I knew how to ride maybe I would scrape. Actually I used to scrape my Rineharts, then my Jiffy stand ,then my bell, now I haven't scraped anything. I have the TT's, just put on hte Metz 880. We'll see now.
