: d1n9 code?
metal_guy 04-16-2004, 09:03 PM I recently changed my oil, installed new DRKS pipes and washed my bike. When I started it up a code showed up on my odometer, I believe it was d1n9. It showed up for only a few seconds and then went away. I was just wondering if someone knew off hand what that was. I will look into it, but it might take some time for me to research.
Thanks
BK
riverrattcom 04-16-2004, 09:17 PM I looked through the code list and there is no such code on the list,
you code should look something like this P1354
Try it again to make sure.

metal_guy 04-16-2004, 09:57 PM I used a blow gun to dry the bike off after I washed it. After I shut it down, I blew it off again because that use my first though as well. I focused on the insturment cluster and lower radiator fan assembly and I have started it a half a dozen since then and haven't seen the code since.
Thanks for the responses

Do you have a water softener at you house? Sometimes that will trigger the code...Water to soft,,,,,,
metal_guy 04-16-2004, 10:06 PM Really? We just put a new water unit in this winter. My wife's hair was turning green because our water hardness was rated at 15!! What is up with that?

Ask Joe about Green hair..He is the Expert.....
Contrary to popular belief, the greening of hair from wading in swimming pools is not caused by the chlorine in pool water or by hair dye. Your hair turns green from the presence of hard metals (copper, iron, and manganese, in particular) in the pool water. Huh? Think old pennies and the Statue of Liberty. The metals are oxidized by the chlorine and then bond to your hair, causing the greenish hue.
What can be done to prevent this from happening? You can wet your 'do and/or run some conditioner through it, and then put on a tightly fitting swimming cap so that there's less of a chance for pool water to contact or be absorbed by your hair. People who maintain pools also need to monitor the level of hard metals in the water so that they can add chemicals that'll neutralize or remove the metals before they oxidize.
What if you already have seaweed tinted locks? You don't have to wait in vain until the tinge grows out. Buy shampoo that's specially formulated for swimmers and contains either chelating (metal removing) agents, such as ethylenediamene tetracetic acid (that's EDTA for those of you not fluent in chemistry), erythorbic acid, and possibly acetylsalicylic acid (also known as aspirin), or antioxidants, such as vitamins A and B. Too much swimmer's shampoo, however, is not recommended, so it's a good idea to quit when you get your original color back, or as close to it as possible. metal_guy 04-16-2004, 10:37 PM We never go swimming in pools, atleast not very often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. The plumber was stumped, everything is ok now, we have well water. Must have been the minerals. The wife did buy some shampoo stripper that got the green out. I thought it was funny.
But anywho, how does the soft water affect the electrical system, is the softwater more able to penetrate into the electrical hook ups and harnesses? Should I be more carefull now when washing the bike?

metal_guy 04-22-2004, 01:58 PM Sorry about not responding right away. Don't get on the computer much. I figured he was B.S.'s me after the small book was copied and pasted in that response :chair: . It had to be copied, any guy that knew that much about hair products would of had to copied and pasted it from some where OR, had to gay. I'll let you decide.
The pipes rock, they sound great. There are a couple of concerns I had. First, the slots cut into the pipes that overlap the header piece where to deep. That caused a exhaust leak. Corrected that by welding it a bit and using blue away to clean the pipe, no distortion was shown, still look great. The second concern I had was in the installation, they tell you to drill a 3/16" hole and use a small bolt to act as a pin to keep the pipes from spinning or sliding off. I would recommend drilling and tapping instead. The problem was keeping the bolt in without having it move or fall out while putting the clamp back on. The bolt head has to be a counter sunk, leaving out the possibility of using a self tapping speed screw.
I have a email copy of installation instructions, performance curves and pic's if anyone is interested.
