: Rear sprocket change ?

Anybody running a smaller rear sprocket? We're thinking of running a 58 tooth instead of the 59 it came with. The bike is currently hitting the rev limiter in 5th at about 1100 feet. So far that's limiting us to around 10.1 second, albeit, consistent passes. Pat.

What is your rev limiter set at? You might want to raise it a bit.

patm well no doubt if your hitting the reve limiter at 1100 feet you need another gear but the 10.1 seems a little off the mark to be hitting the rev limiter. I assume your still running 135-138mph?

Rev limiter is currently set at 10,000 and the speed @ 10.1 is 127mph.

patm all of the vrxse's I have seen so far top out around 135mph. Has your bike had the gears changed before or was that the stock setup?

Max stock set up. If we can find a 58 tooth sprocket locally tonight / tomorrow morning we'll try that first. First race for us ( CMDRA ) is next weekend in Medicine Hat, Alberta so the 6 passes today were just single runs. We are also contemplating running it on the Dyno to make sure we are actually getting 10,000 RPM and play with it a little this week. Help!

Something else must be up. There is no way you should be hitting the rev limiter at 127 mph unless your clutch is slipping. You may want to look at going to stiffer static springs.

Thanks guys. It's pissing down rain here today so the saga will have to wait to continue next week under race conditions. Anything we find out will be posted here, all season. No big secrets about our set ups, as someone said earlier it's the rider that wins the races, we just want to give him the best chance possible every time he gets on it. Pat.

had the same problem ... 1100ft, approx 127mp/h and 10.000 ... up it goes in the RL, end of show. Times where 10.05s at 1.4 60ft ... now RL is set a bit higher and we wait for the next race ....

guys oppinion seems to vary widely on this, i just ran my new destroyer and had the same problem, rev limiter in top at about 11oo ft and 10.3's at 126mph. Totally stock set up with limiter set at 10k and the clutch wont slip believe me due to the lock up arms and weights. Evey where else it seems a 21 front with a 57 rear is the go. The clutch springs act for your launch and provide some slip to help not strike the tyre, after 100 ft it would be pretty much locked up if the arms have the std weight from factory on them.

Live a little...try raising your rev limit but don't go over 11000...I had mine set at 11200 for the AHDRA race this weekend, but I'm going to back it down to 10900 or 11000. Also make sure that you set your shift points no closer than 250rpm below the rev limit...you may hit RL and lose ET. ALSO make sure that the bike is up to the book's operating temp of 180. I would attach a water temp gauge like I did so you have a reference to look at and no doubts...if not up to temp the ECM engages an early limiter...hmmmmm, there must be a reson for this... :)

had top end limiter set to 11k launched at 7500 shifted at 9k. ran 10.0 touching limiter just after line. Cant wait for the sprockets as the bike produces max power at 9200 so longer legs should see it run 9.7 - 9.8's with my weight and can reset limiter to 10k.

I run stock gears and I run 9.30's @ 136. I run the AMRA series. Even some of my friends that have Destroyers that are stock and running 9.8's. I got on my friends Destroyer that he was having problems with and made a pass and ran a 9.54.
