: Having air shifting problems....
boostboy 05-18-2006, 04:25 AM We have just purchased a brand new VRod destroyer and our first run at the drags the bike wouldn't shift. Under close inspection we found the kill box ain't working, has anyone else had this problem?
We are trying to fit a MPS kill box with no results...it won't kill the ignition. When we fit the kill box on our other jap bikes it works fine. Is there a difference between the MPS kill box on the jap bikes compared to the VRod? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are in Australia and to get the original kill box it will take up to 3 weeks and we are racing this weekend. :ithappen: :banghead: :banghead:
bproulxvrod 05-18-2006, 04:31 AM I'm not positve, but the airshifter is made by Pingle for H-D. I'm having a similar problem with my kill module on my electric shifter. They are shipping me an updated one.

boostboy 05-18-2006, 04:37 AM Hoping to be a regular on this forum...once I get things sorted! We managed only one run last night (her first run ever!) and got 10.5 @ 120mph we couldn't get 5th and with no wheelie bars.
bproulxvrod 05-18-2006, 04:42 AM Cool.....look up in the racing forum....there's some guys here running 9.30's just by changing the shift points. I saw them run in Gainsville and they are crazy to watch in person. Good luck and try contacting Pingle for quicker results on the part you need (They're at the top of the forums home page).
boostboy 05-18-2006, 04:50 AM Even with the bike idling at 2000rpm and no air in the bottle, we still can't hear the motor kill when hit the shift button. Thats with either the standard kill module and the MPS kill module...gets me thinking it has nothing to do with the kill module. It's sad to think this bike is less than 1 hour old. :banghead:
bproulxvrod 05-18-2006, 05:17 AM Maybe Larry from Eagle H-D or one of the other racers will be able to help you out. I'm sure someone else has seen the problem. Eagle H-D is also an advertiser on this site in the left column of the home page. :thumb:
Jan-Dirk 05-18-2006, 05:52 AM Hey boostboy,
you seem to have a commonly known problem.

Elgavilan 05-18-2006, 10:06 PM You might want to try changing the kill time on the kill module. When I first set mine up I did not think it was working because is was so short the engine did not even notice it. I ended up running mine at about 90 ms. and it works great.
Also, on my setup you have to hold the shift switch down for at least 8 seconds to arm the system or it won't work at all.

boostboy 05-19-2006, 12:23 AM Thanks I will try to hold the shift switch down for at least 8 seconds & see if that works.
I Called Pingel to day & they told me that whey have had some Destroyers where the kill box don't work because of RF noise so they are replacing it free of charge. But for the moment we are fitting a Muzzy Digit-Kill that kills the injectors. :banghead:
At the same time I should not have to do this on a new bike. :ithappen: :
boostboy 05-19-2006, 12:29 AM Holding the shift switch down for at least 8 seconds did not work  Thanks anyway.
boostboy 05-19-2006, 02:57 AM The Muzzy Digi-Kill box worked  :hyper:  :hyper:
Racing this Sunday I will keep you posted. hopefully It will run a hi 7sec at 185mph like my turbo busa  Only Joking keep you posted.
cheers Jamie S&R PRO:kaz:

If you have a new kill module set it at 70ms and it will shift fine.
boostboy 05-19-2006, 09:08 PM I will try that when I get my std Kill box back but the muzzy digi-kill kills the injectors & has two settings one is injector kill time & the other is delay kill time so I am not to sure what the set up wil be yet?
boostboy 05-22-2006, 03:47 AM It worked gr8 on my 4th run with on wheely bars I ran a 9.8 at 138 mph & a 1.438 60 foot time but on my 5th run the starter motor f.... up it would not start. I hope this is the last of the of the problems I have with this bike.

Harley Europe seems to think that the bikes get an electrical surge at higher RPMs. Try disconnecting the alternator from the voltage regulator before you run down the track. It worked on a couple bikes here in Germany.:biker:
boostboy 05-27-2006, 06:26 AM Thanks Mate but we got our new kill box & it works fine & we still have the Muzzy fuel kill to fall back on if the Pingle box shits it self again.
