I am looking for any info on mapping successes and clutch set ups that have worked. We jsut started running ours and are struggling to get the 60' under 1.50.

Just don't expect them to be too forthcoming considering these are racers and every racer wants the edge. :D

I am a racer as well and would share what I know (unfortunately little) because it's really about how you ride the bike that makes a winner.

Well yes and no. I appreciate your sentiment but you know as well as I do that team setups are guarded as if they were national secrets.

Good luck on your quest for information.

From most of them i`ve talked to at the first 2 races the ones going fast are high 30`s or low 40`s. What is your 2 step rpm set at?:thumb:

We've been going between 6500 and 7500 depending on track traction. Have not changed the clutch set up yet. Thanks for the reply

We are running between 8 and 9 pounds depending on air temperature. The tire has been hooking pretty well so the clutch is the next step. Saving my pennies for a V300 Racepack that would take the guessing out.

Hi Enck,

what kind of springs (color) are you using?
I would guess that 6500 revs is way too low....

Martin

enck

I still have the static springs in from the factory. Thinking about red but went with smaller changes first. Added 50% more weight and went to softer springs on the lock up. Rained all weekend so maybe next weekend I'll see where I am.

Martin

Try this:

go back to where the factory setting was

tire pressure 8 psi (the tire pressure alone will not get u into the 1,4s anyway...)

set launch rpm to at least 7800 rpm

when pre-staged turn full-throttle (you will notice the rev-limiter is working)

just popp the clutch

never ever shut down the throttle

fly into the 1,4s

you still can make proper clutch-tuning incl. springs + weights thereafter

if it does not work send me an air-ticket :-)))

with bad track conditions we ran repeatedly 1,4s

let us know about the progress youīre making

You better be in the 1.30's with a Slick and Wheelie Bar before you ask for a Plane Ticket :slap: The Rider has Just as Much to do with it as The Clutch setup:2cents: !

Brrr, calm down - I was just trying to post a helpful comment.
You did not post one yet.

Thereīs not many ways in popping the clutch. So itīs not the riders abilities but the tuning that makes the difference on a wheelie-bar bike with slick.

But anyway donīt worry - Iīll be in the 1,3s one day.
But I guess you havenīt been there with a 9.55@140.6 on a destroyer, have you?!

As far as the air-ticket is concerned: I was just trying to make a joke.

But whenver you get into the 1,2s on a destroyer Iīsurely buy you one to come over here and show me your magic!

Peace for a while,

Martin

Has anyone experienced voltage surges that somehow affect the operation of the air shift system? We had problems with 3 or 4 different bikes this weekend at the practice session in Luckau, Germany. We are all basically beginners and would appreciate any help, tips, etc....:)

what about the shift points? I guess martin is right in launching RPMs, but what about shifting? I think it should be somewhere about the 10500 ...
I still run the OEM clutch setup like he does and also run steady 1.4s in the 60s with no optimal grip ... so I think he's right in thinking about 1.3s with optimal track conditions. Also I think there's no way to get it down to1.2s, I think mid 1.3s are the best you can get out of a Destroyer.

enck
05-23-2006, 12:39 PM
Unless you change the Rev Limiter setting you are out luck at 10,000. 9,200 for the first shift and 9,500 for the rest of the trip is working for me as long as I don't fall asleep at the switch.

Challenger
05-23-2006, 06:23 PM
unless you change the rev limiter you are also out of luck at a bit more than 1000ft .... as the engine produces max power at 9,700 you have to set the shiftpoint far beyond this revs ... so its necessairy to change the rev limiter setting for real fast ET's ... if you have a dyno curve, look where the power is below 5% of max power, thats the point you actually should change gear, I guess 10,500 to 10,700 should be the aim ...

1.41 for the 60 ' 9.70 best Et at 137 MPH. I like the idea of moving the R L since i am contiually bumping it on the first shift unless I work to short shift. What sucks for my bike is its carrying 210 lbs.

Thats a very respectable time for a 210 pound rider.

That's why I have someone else ride my Destroyer. At 235lbs, with a penchant for beer and fear would probably have me running my best times in the high 10's!! Jeff

I'm 214 pounds with my monkey suit on and still ran a 9.46 @ 139 with a 1.35 60'. You can do it but its hard to be competitive. 180 pound rider fits nice.

I here alot of people complaining at the track about being under weight. I'd love it! Here comes a kickstand and an onboard compressor! I hate that diner bell.

Great Numbers for such a Big Rider, but your Right it's just less weight you have to add to the Bike!:)
Jeff's Bike"VRXSE" would have run a 9.3X with a Little More Gear " I was Hitting the Rev Limiter at 1100ft",also Tire Pressure adjustments! As that thing was Brutal for the 1st 60ft:eek:"I never made a Clean Pass:( "

LOL Not sure how I got dragged into this. I know exactly how the destroyer idea came about. It seems Jamie took a group of HD people to Eagle and they spent some time looking at the eagle bikes and setups. We should have a film out called birth of the VRXSE starring Larry Edmondson and the eagle crew.

Not sure who your calling out either, if it's me I suggest we just have coffee and talk v-rods.
