: Which system is best for the money?
stracr 01-16-2006, 11:04 PM The RCC turbo system is $4,500.00!
The Custom Performance system is $4995.00!
Is the Custom Perf. system worth the additional $500.00?
If they were the same price, which would you choose?

HPTURBO 01-17-2006, 12:34 AM I bought the Custom Performance kit. Very easy to install.
It came with a Barnett clutch. 9lbs. of boost - 166 hp.
What I like about the system is that it's tight and clean to the bike.
The turbo looks like Harley put it on , not an add on.

That turbo setup does look good and you would be hard pressed to beat your performance numbers. The only drawback I see is the exhaust location, looks like it would burn your leg. May not be an issue with most folks, but I ride in shorts a lot, I know not good safety wise, but hey I live in Hawaii and have to wear shorts for my work uniform.
The other turbo kit sold by V Mod and others looks real good too but may be an even worse situation with leg burning.

HPTURBO 01-17-2006, 03:05 PM Mike,
I live in Scottsdale, AZ, I ride in shorts all the time. The pipe is close to the motor with a heat shield. I'll try to get a overhead pic for you. I would rather ride where you are, than in the desert.
Dave Galbiati 01-17-2006, 04:07 PM RCC turbo has not burned my leg.:D
Dukeman 01-17-2006, 10:47 PM What does the CP turbo exhaust sound like?

I just bought the Custom Performance Turbo kit yesterday!!!!
Cant wait for it to arrive! I will be getting it with 10 -12lbs boost cause we got 98 octane Gas down here in Australia. I used to live in Scottsdale AZ too!! and the guys from Custom Performance are located down there, if anyone would know how to design a turbo to be ridden in the Heat it would be them! I decided on the CP turbo cause it comes with the high perf clutch included and Nick threw in the Full chrome kit for the same price! couldn't ask for more. And I couldn't get my head around the rear facing air filter with the RCC turbo it just doesn't sit right, the Custom performance is the nicest looking aesthetically other than the G2 but the G2 wont be ready for months despite the fact that they tell you they have them in stock!( I called the guys that actually make the G2 they said they were having probs).
Now I just got get all the parts I have ordered I am still trying to give my wallet CPR and my hands are shaking uncontrollably Ive spent a fortune just cant stop its like drugs:angeldev:

The dyno sheet reads 167.9 hp. and 107.2 torque. Runs on pump gas.
The turbo is a ceramic coated, ballbearing unit. It will last longer and spool quicker. Remember this is a stock motor. One guy in town is running 178 hp. with a stock 02 motor. If you are looking for big HP, you will need to go to turbo pistons and a little heavier spring on your intake side. Get good fuel and you should have no problems. I asked Nick on cost differance. He said that his kit came with an upgrade clutch and a far superior turbo. If you are looking to by a turbo, you can order it from v - mod.

My turbo system will make 280rwhp @30lbs of Boost, but that would take Race gas"VP C-116" and some Low comp Turbo Pistons from my good friend John Noonan at J&E Pistons,Stiffer clutch springs, and some Big "Ol Wavo's""Balls in Spanish?"because it will ripp your arm out of the sockets and Blow the rear tire off at a 100mph roll on! I tested my old system"no intercooler" at 24lbs of boost 248rwhp & 167rwtq and with my 200+mph Gearing the Front end came straight up at 80mph!I could not believe the Power it made and Never stopped Pulling till I pulled in the clutch"She was going over:hitfan: " and came down Hard on the front end!The Brakes on a stock V-rod are Not near enough for a Turbo so Please upgrade your Brakes also!Sanford Kosman-Kosman Speciaties 1-707-837-0127 has a Brembo Bolt on upgrade that will save your Life if you plan to ride that Monster on the street!:deal: I will Not Slam any other company or Kit,but RCC did Win the V-twin Dyno Shoot Out in Daytona Beach this year"194rwhp out of a STOCK V-ROD:hyper: :vrod: " by a 30+rwhp over every other system entered in the shootout! It may not be all chromed out,but it's The Best Stainless steel Tubing you can get for this application. The Turbo Kit Design is Very Compact and efficient, but don't just take my word ask around!;) :kaz:Richard Peppler richard@rccturbos.com the Owner of RCC Turbo's has been making Turbo systems since way before our V-rod were ever around, and they Power some of the Most Powerful Motorcycles in the World.
HPTURBO 01-18-2006, 11:19 PM Kaz makes a great point here. Everybody talks about making big horsepower.
No matter what turbo you choose, you still have to stop.
