Any strong arguments for/against boring the original sleeves +.03" vs. replacing the sleeves?

Thanks in advance.

The Motor I raced at Bonneville, and used in the Dyno shootout"Frank Please show Him:cool: " was a Stock sleaved .03+ with Low Comp J&E piston's ,Dryer Top Rod's, with Sam's special Cam's made 240rwhp/167rwtq @18lbs of Boost at Gil's and 238/164 in KC Before I killed it:sad: !69.5CI 1139cc. I think Sam said it was?"Stock is 69CI 1130cc?"the new Motor is a 80CI/1320cc that will have all the good stuff+++ So I can go for 300rwhp at Low Boost and have it Last more then a Day:hidesbeh: !With a Turbo you can make Crazy Power with a Stock or Very Lightly modified bike so that my Secret;) :kaz:

I can see that I didn’t word my original question well. What I’m trying to determine is, given that I guy wants to go big bore, is there a big advantage to going with new sleeves as opposed to boring the old ones?

Thanks in advance.

Boring the stock sleeves will not gain much displacment ( just a few c.c.s). The "big bore" motors that you read about have pistons that are a 1/4" larger that stock which not only requires larger liners but the cases need bored larger also.

OK. Now it's starting to make sense. I believe that you're saying that there simply is not enough steel in the stock liners to appreciably expand the inside diameter?

Thanks Paul.
