Yesterday I tried out my new jack. Pumped her off the ground (oops that didnt come out right), then spun the front wheel for kicks, but it didn't spin nice and free. Seems the brakes were scraping. It barely made a fully revolution.

Are they supposed to be like this? Any suggestions?

Leon nothing pushes brake pads back when the handle is released and usually brakes will drag just a little bit. It should not be enough to offer any real resistance though.

While talking about Brakes, had to have my rear brake pads replaced at @8k, anyone else needed this?

FYI: I ride 2 up 1/3 to 1/2 the time - so use the rear more often to "soften" the breaking for my SO. Just checking.

Yup. Rear brake pads replaced at 9500 miles. I probably use the rear too much.

Rear pads replaced @ 15,000. Front still OK. Like Daniii, I was probably using the rear brakes too much. I now concentrate on using the front brakes more and also practice using them for quick stops (advice from other forum members). I feel I'm a much better rider for doing this. I have also found it very difficult to lock the front brakes on dry pavement and going in a straight line. Something I didn't know before practicing quick stops using front brakes only.

Just don't do it when you're going down a steep hill :D

Christine,

OK, I'll take your advice. My next step is to practice with my SO on the back. Don't know if she's going to go for this or not. Maybe I'll surprise her.
