After riding their demo bike in KC I dropped off my bike the next day for a 1550 which I'm picking up on Mon. to head down to Florida for the winter full of suprising people with 165 HORSEPOWER with a stock looking bike. I have been so pleased with Eagle HD, PAUL,LARRY and RICK I can't say enough about the experience. These guys are tops and exceeded my expectations with the power out of a D&D exhaust. They tell me I could expect 5-10 more with their race pipe but it's too loud for me. I'll just have to ride to the left of Jeff (Bad Rod) when we go out looking for rice burners. Just think 200 horsepower is just a small shot of juice away.

Only problem for me is I would need to ship my bike there and back from California. I can assure you if I lived nearer to Eagle my bike would be next in line.

All you have to do is get in touch with the guys from Eagle. Next time they come out for a race, I bet they'd trailer your bike with them back to the shop. Then all you need to do is fly out and ride it back. Quit making excuses......:stilpoke:

I really considering doing a BB, but being on the east coast leaves me quite a ride away. I'm thinking about leaving my bike with them after the KC rally next year and than I could just have it shipped back to me. Anyone have an idea of cost on these things? Not sure if I would go with a 1430 or a 1550. Price might help make my decision.

There was some talk about cost in this thread.

http://www.v-rodforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27636&page=1&pp=5

I remember reading a post from the Eagle fella's that the 1430 kit was around $8K but can't find it...

I am figuring $11K for a 1550 kit and shipping my bike there and back from Calfornia.

Your 1550 stroker dynoed out at 165 hp but Falicon Crankshaft web site says they're getting 180+ from their 1550 stroker kit. Their kit utilizes JE pistons, full round crank and titanium rods. Which 1550 stroker setup do you have?

Next year, I'm pulling my motor and sending it to one of the engine builders for a 1320 BB for about 135 HP and a very reliable motor... Remember guys, you can pull the motor, crate it up, and ship it...you should be able to find a decent dyno tuner somewhere in your state to tune it...:thumb:

When I did mine last december, 1550s where not too common, in fact, wisecos bb kit did not come out till late 2003 as I recall....times sure change fast! I am using their full circle crank but suspect they have picked out a full on race bike with 14 or over compression and heads ported for max flow which wouldn't be suitable for the street as would that kind of compression or their customer was spraying nitrous in which case their power is way too low. I would like to see a full street set up on 91 octane gas make that kind of power. In reading all the dyno claims i've not seen any as good as mine with a street pipe. Even bad rod posted a 163 hp without spray. So needless to say I am completely satisfied with my number. By the way this is with a slightly smoothed stock CVO port and stock valves.

Talk to glenn, who owns falicon, and he will let you know to those are numbers from one of Eagles old motors that we used to race at Prostar events. Ken posted those a couple years ago and has just left them up. If you call and ask either Glenn or Ken for true dyno numbers on printed sheets I am sure they will tell you to contact Eagle H D.

Correct. The web page says "Our first client reported well over 180 HP on his dynojet!"

Glenn gave me those numbers and I have not updated the site. Now that we have a number of you guys running the 1550 kits, what is a reasonable range? I don't want to show numbers that most customers won't achieve. That raises their expectations and leads to disappointment. So what are you guys seeing on a STREET setup, and what are you guys seeing on a RACE setup?

Kaz I know who your source is but keep in mind that dyno numbers from one dyno to another vary a tremendous amount and temps play a big part, I also know it had a pipe change and that was the reason it was getting a new map if I understood it correct. So since Jeff hasn't been able to check in for the last couple of days let's just drop this whole HP number BS. I really don't care if it is 155 or 165 it is still damn impressive on pump gas.

Flame-suit on
Kaz,I haven't seen any 91 octane in my neck of the woods. All I've seen is 92-94.When I meet other forum members ay Eagle HD,I made a few stops and filled up with 93 each time.Down in KC I didn't find see anything higher than 91.Gas is not the same throughout the US.Different areas have different blends. That may also explain the HP difference, also a different dyno.As you know, there are conservative and happy dynos.

Kaz everyone is different. First of all I know Paul and Rick, I can assure you that if Paul says it made 165hp on pump gas then I have no reason to doubt Paul at all. Second having been around dynos most of my adult life I put very little faith in the numbers they produce, they are a tool like a wrench to me. They are used to measure gain only, to try to look at the numbers they produce overall isn't really a good number. The reason I say that is every dyno is a little different and the numbers my bike produces this morning when it is 60 degrees is different then it will produce this afternoon when it is 80 degrees so what does it matter what it says this morning or afternoon. Like I say it is a tool, I get a base number and then make my change, I always use the same dyno and try to match conditions then to measure and see if my change was good or bad. To use the dyno for anything else is just fooling yourself.

Qwk Rod

Kaz, I assure you my numbers are correct and I will verify on another dyno while I'm here in Florida for the winter. Apparently Jeff isn't around but according to Paul and Larry, Jeff's motor was done with older technology and mine has the latest stuff including a new cam profile which I would imagine is the reason my motor makes more horsepower. I'm sure Jeff will have his motor up there before long and then he will leap frog me as Eagle is constantly improving their motors by racing and then giving us what they have learned. I also am using a D&D pipe which according to Rick makes more top end power than what Jeff was using for the street. Variables Variables.

Nope, we just used my CVO heads with a little bit of blending as the cnc job they do at the factory looks like they made 3 different passes and never smoothed them out. Also using stock valves that came with the bike and some stronger springs to handle the new cams. Heads were the cheapest part of the deal.

I finally took the bike out for a short ride since the traffic signals are still out down here in Florida and it's scary going thru intersections what with the lights and the trees that are down all over the place. The D&D pipe is awsome, you must ride one to hear the way it sounds in between shifts and backing down too cool. Didn't really hit it hard but it pulls really well without even having to go way up in the rpm range which is the way I like to have a motor built. Able to get your grins in the mid range without ever stressing out the motor but huge power there if you need to embarass some unsuspecting person. :angeldev:

I just checked the prices for all parts and labor for my CVO heads. Thats springs, titanium retainers, 3 groove keepers and the blending of the ports for around $800.00 compared to teir full on cnc heads for around $3,000. I like my CVO better each day.

$800 for the heads.....what about the crank, rods, and pistons? I think that's the whole kit...? Should still be cheaper than a turbo.......any price info you're willing to share would be appreciated.

I have a question (hopefully not too silly) that perhaps you high power street riders can answer:

What are you doing for tires to keep that much power stuck to the ground?

I find that even with a stock motor I have to be pretty careful on the corners, aggressive throttle movement will break the rear (avon 250) loose in any of the first 3 gears and that's on dry warm roads. In the wet or cold pavement that rear end is like it's on ice and I have to be very easy on the throttle or I'll have my hands full.

Have you found something stickyier or are you just having to be that much more careful with throttle?

I will say that the avon 250 has outlasted the other tires I've had on V by 1000 miles already and looks to have another 1000 in it. Normally 4000 miles and my rear tire is done. So it's no surprise to me that this isn't all that sticky of a tire. The Avon 200 for example seemed to have much better stick.

good point...also, keep in mind....what is it worth NOT to have the lag?....What's it worth to have instant power? So even if the big bore comes in slightly higher, most would feel it's worth it....I would think....

I GOT 1800 MILES OUT OF THE 200 AVON 1200 MILES NOW WITH THE METZ
CLOSE TO REPLACMENT TIME.BOTH IMHO ARE ABOUT THE SAME FOR TRACTION THE METZ SEEMS TO HAVE A STIFFER SIDEWALL FEELS MUCH
MORE STABLE IN HIGH SPEED TURNS. I HAVE ALLWAYS RAN AVONS ON EVERYTHING I RODE BUT IN THIS CASE I WILL BUY ANOTHER METZ. :2cents:
BOTH ARE 200'S AND I RUN A SMALL MOTOR 1430C.C. (AT LEAST FOR NOW.)

A friend of mine just told me they passed a law here in Florida that if your caught "Racing" whatever that means they can confiscate your bike. I will have to look into this law because that could be a real damper on a little street racing once in a while. :tmbsdow: :tmbsdow:

I finally took the bike out for a short ride since the traffic signals are still out down here in Florida and it's scary going thru intersections what with the lights and the trees that are down all over the place. The D&D pipe is awsome, you must ride one to hear the way it sounds in between shifts and backing down too cool. Didn't really hit it hard but it pulls really well without even having to go way up in the rpm range which is the way I like to have a motor built. Able to get your grins in the mid range without ever stressing out the motor but huge power there if you need to embarass some unsuspecting person. :angeldev:

So Bob when we goin' riding??? Jeff

My original 2004 daily driven “street” set-up from Eagle with pump gas dyno’d at 155.3HP/113.1Torque. Everything obviously changed many times when we started racing. Now that it’s time to just run around the street again, Paul had me take the BadRod down to Peterson’s in Miami to have it “re-streeted”. I was quite surprised to see that the set-up was almost identical to Eagles original numbers. See the attached. I have dyno readings all over the place ranging from 155 to 178 with no nitrous. I’d have to say that 155 is the right number for the BadRod in the daily use, pump gas, no nitrous set-up mode and man does it run great. I get nothing but complements about the look and sound from old school and newbies every time I take it out. Jeff

Jeff, As soon as the maniacs on the street are once again being controlled by traffic signals I would really like to get together for a ride. If you feel like bench racing a little before that give me call at home. 954-484-5710.

OK Bob, you can also call me 561-478-3100 anytime if things clear up for you. Palm Beach Harley Davidson is having some open house anniversary thing on Saturday and they are having a dyno shootout. If things look any better you may want to come up for that. Juan, wpbvrod, should have his 1550 back by then so if all 3 of us show up I think they would have a heart attack. Jeff

I think we shouldn't even tell them we have big block STROKERS just that we made some minor improvements and really freak out the air cooled guys. I was there last year with my air cooled stroker 105" DWG posted a lower than usual 124 hp and almost beat out a guy with a 127" El Bruto stroker that was also down on his usual 145-150 hp to 127hp he was sweating. I just hope I get a chance to race some of my buddies on the way up as most don't even know I got the V Rod and none know about the motor. Should be some wide eyes.

Bob I've been having a tough time lately convincing people that the BadRod only has "some minor improvements". Even though we’re still running the belt I’m afraid we took it a little too far to play the “sleeper” card anymore so I'll ride in the back when we pull up and let you and Juan represent the sleepers. Actually when we do this I should go first because the guys at PBHD think I have it wrapped so if you and Juan come in after and then beat me that will really stir them up. Jeff

I plan on being around for a long time. I have had lots of fun in the spot light and right now I think it is more fun and much better for the "sport" of V Rodding if we have a lot of others step up and continue to raise the bar. You guys did and awesome job building the BadRod. I love it and I'm quite content keeping it just the way it is. Don't feel bad about a paltry $50. The last dyno shootout I was in only paid money to class winners. I was high overall with my turbo vrod at 150hp and won nothing because I was the only Vrod. The second place guy did 128hp with an S&S motor and won $100. He was allowed in the modified class, go figure. His wasn't even an HD motor and it was held at a stealership. I even had to pay for my hotdog!! Oh, and by the way a guy on a Sporty won $100. for the 883-1200 class. I tried to tell them I had an 1130 LOL. Bill
