I am currently thinking of upgrading my 2003 V-Rod with the H-D Stage I Big Bore Kit with an H-D Race Tuner. I am currently using the Screamin' Eagle Slip-Fit Mufflers and the Performance Air Cleaner with the MAP that was in the Cartridge for the Mufflers. My V-Rod runs very well! :ride: The H-D folks said it would take an average of 16 to 20 labor hours for the Kit to be installed. They also stated there was a 2 to 3 day turn around for the precision machining done by Harley-Davidson. So what type of wear and tear should I expect with the additional HP to the engine, if any? :hmm: I have been unable to find any type of upgrade for the 2003 stock clutch, with one dealer stating there is no need to upgrade -- do I need to upgrade the clutch at all? :hmm: I did see that the 2005 VRSCSE has a heavy-duty clutch. :surrender Will the Race Tuner's preset configuration for the Stage I Big Bore Kit, the Performance Air Cleaner and the Screamin' Eagle Slip-Fit Mufflers do the job for an excellently performing V-Rod or will additional tuning be necessary for an efficient and yet powerful performance? :hmm: I'm finding that the few dealers that I have talked to about it are providing very expensive labor costs (well above the H-D average) or keep raising the price when I ask about an appointment to have it done. :spank: One dealer has yet to performed a 10,000 mile maintenance on a V-Rod. :hmm: So... I need better information than what I'm able to find in eastern Ohio. Can anyone help fill in the blanks??? :ride:
