Would someone be kind enough to tell me what size socket the steering head and the rear axle nut is on the vrscr?
thanks

Wow, no answers! I was looking for an easy answer also. I'm sure that you've already figured it out and moved on by now but the steering head nut is 1.5" (38mm) and the rear axle nut, according to my just finished measurements on my new R, is 36mm. I just went to adjust the belt tension with my trusty 15/16" crow's foot (from my A) and I was surprised by that fat rear axle!

Hope that this helps even after all this time.

Brent/Gary:

The good old american-sized wrenches 1 and 1/2" and 15/16" work just fine on these important areas that require a lot of "pull". I've used them many times already.:thumb:

Good luck,

Thanks redrazor. Yep, 1 1/2" works great on the fork nut but the axle has been significantly enlarged on the VRSCR. Instead of 15/16" on the rear axle nut, the size jumped up to 36mm. The closest English size to this would be 1 27/64". I'm thinking only metric will do on this one and it's a big one to find.

Brent:

I think a 1 and 7/16 inch combo wrench would work. It would be just a smig loose, but a 6-point socket on a long breaker bar would do the job just fine.
Of course a 36mm socket would be the same price and fit perfect. There's always the option of the "Mexican Fit-All"...... a big ol cresent wrench, too.

good luck,
