: VRSCR 750 needed next please
1062744 05-20-2005, 03:07 AM We need a smaller VRSCR next please to replace the Sportster, similar engine & frame design to the VRSCR but smaller and lighter. A 750 motor with a higher rev limiter would be enough, weight down to 185 kg, small wind deflector screen and short bars, plus smaller price tag, say $10 000. If Harley produced this it would be the goodbye kiss to Monsters, Tuonos, Speed Triples etc., not to mention Buells, and my deposit would be waiting. Anyone from the Factory reading this forum???
WipeOut 05-20-2005, 03:19 AM There was a mention a while ago of a new Buell with a revolution engine but haven't hear anything more about it..

If you don't mind a larger, non V-Twin motor, say 1050 cc's then you've just described the Triumph Speed Triple :D
Don't hold your breath on a smaller revolution motor, look at the Buells if you want a smaller street fighter.
1062744 05-23-2005, 02:39 AM I rode a Buell XB12R then the VRSCR back to back, I went to the dealer with the intention of buying the Buell. It was a nice bike but I was disappointed, ride behaviour was nowhere close to my jap bikes and to me it was really not worth buying. After coming back on the VRSCR my first comment was that it 'is a 100 times better bike than the Buell'-the Buell salesman was not too pleased. I was really impressed and would buy one except for the fact that they are grossly overpriced where I live, more than a Ducati 999. To me the nicest bikes to ride are Ducatis & Harleys-both have steel frames with V-twin motors for a reason, which is that they give you the best road feel & power delivery for normal riding. This is why I would like a smaller, lighter VRSCR that follows the lines of Bert Lawwill's Sportster flat-tracker conversion http://www.mertlawwill.com/st/index.htm. I rode the old Speed Triple, great motor but unsettled rear end in fast corners and no wind protection at all. I still do not understand why the VRSCR gave such good wind protection for a naked-must be the headlight, speedo cluster & seating position combination? Very good design.
mjw930 05-23-2005, 08:06 AM All I can say is check out the new Speed Triple with the addition of the fly screen. I think you'll find it to be a much different bike than the one you rode. I find the 1050 triple's power delivery to be very similar to the V-Rod and on a bike that's 200 lbs lighter it literally flies. The only time I can get it unsettled in turns is when the road is torn up or I give it too much throttle (standing it up on the rear tire in a turn really screws with your line :D )
Don't get me wrong, I really like the Street-Rod and if I didn't already have a V-Rod it would be in my garage. For me the Triumph is a second bike and being $7000 less than the Street-Rod made the decision a lot less complicated. Combine that with the tradition of Triumph and you have a package that's hard to beat.
For me the tradition of a marque is equally as important as the specifications or price.
